Before we proceed...

We need to establish why rollups are needed in the first place:

Ethereum can only process around 10 - 15 transactions per second (TPS) currently...

So this means that users need to pay higher gas fees to validators for their transactions to be prioritized


This limitation has led to a rise in the development of Layer 2 protocols that can scale the capacity of Ethereum

These protocols scale Ethereum by processing additional transactions on their blockchain first, before moving the transactions to Ethereum for storage
