Pandemics are not a novel phenomenon in modern world history. By this time 105 years ago, a great plague bedeviled much of the world's geographical entity - the "Spanish Flu".

The virus was an exceptionally deadly global "influenza pandemic" caused by the "H1N1 influenza A virus". The earliest documented case was in March 1918 in the US state of Kansas with subsequent cases being recorded in France, Germany and the United kingdom in April of that year. Two years later, an estimated 500 million had been infected in four successive waves leading to 50 million deaths, nearly a third of the global population.

To elucidate more on the this history, this is to bring to limelight.

As the United States entered World War I, the disease quickly spread from Camp Funston (where it was first detected) to other US Army camps and Europe, becoming an epidemic in the East coast, Midwest, and the French ports by April of 1918, and rapidly reaching the Western Front by the middle of the month. Like a flashlight, the virus quickly spread to the rest of France, Britain, Italy and Spain and in May reached Wroclaw and Odessa in present day Ukraine.
After the signing of the Treaty of Brest- Litovsk in March 1918, Germany started releasing Russian prisoners of war, who then spread the disease to their country. Instantly, the flu reached North Africa, India and Japan in May and was reported in China in June, after reaching Australia in July, the wave started to recede.

The Spanish flu pandemic caused a great disruption in the military operation of the First World War.
More so, when many may wonder the exact origin of this two-word nomenclature, when we think of the 1918 influenza pandemic, the terminology "Spanish Flu" often comes to mind. Amazingly, despite it's name, the pandemic didn't actually originated in Spain.

During the tumultuous World War I, various countries were grappling with the effects of the pandemic when it first broke out, but many were reluctant to openly discuss it. Spain, however, took a different approach. Spain was neutral in the war, just as Switzerland and Turkey were, Spain had no censorship in place thus allowing them to openly report on the outbreak. This led to a historical misconception that the flu had originated in Spain hence the name.

In reality, the origins of the virus remains debated and uncertain, making it a bit of a historical controversy. The pandemic's early cases were linked to overcrowded military camps and other public spaces which were common during the war. The surge of the virus mutated into an extremely contagious and deadly strain, resulting in a global health crisis in the early 20th century.

I don't think so, a lady will look fresh if she's happy with zero worries.
Why do you think some married women look miserable despite constantly getting that thing

Cor, mate, I reckon one of the reasons why Spanish flu was more of a mare than Corona virus was because they didn't have the proper gear and facilities and whatnot to sort out a cure and stop the bugger from spreading.

They were proper snookered, they were. They didn't have things like masks, vaccines, ventilators, or even antibiotics back then. They had to rely on quack remedies and old wives' tales. No wonder they copped it so bad, poor sods. It was a right mess!
