The Nigerian Navy on Wednesday paraded no fewer than five stowaways arrested aboard a vessel, MSC Martha in Lagos.

The arrested stowaways are 44-year-old Effiong Okon, Ayewuni Daniel, 27, Ajagboma Asiko, 29, Adebanjo Ayewumi, 23 and 25-year-old Christian Joseph.

The stowaways were arrested by men of NNS Beecroft during a patrol on August 26.

The commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

It read, “NNS BEECROFT’s patrol team executed a commendable operation resulting in the apprehension of five stowaways, aboard a vessel -MSC MARTHA.

“The operation was carried out on August 26, 2023, at approximately 2350 hours, following a reliable tip-off. ”

Oguntuga stated that the stowaways were arrested while trying to flee the country illegally to Spain through the vessel.

He said, “Their arrest took place within the vicinity of the Lagos anchorage while they were attempting to clandestinely exit the country via the vessel to Spain.

“Found in their possession were three mobile phones, personal effects, and a cash sum of N7,900.”

He said the stowaways had been handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service for further investigation.

Oguntuga said, “They were paraded today and have been handed over to the Nigerian Immigration.

The NNS BEECROFT patrol team’s swift and efficient response underscores the Navy’s dedication under the watch of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, towards maintaining the security and integrity of the country’s maritime borders."

The politicians should make Nigerian conducive for Nigerians to stay just as they moved their families abroad to live a conductive life.
How can we be buying our own fuel for ₦700 per litre?
How can Tinubu add VAT on imported diesel that the crude oil is source in Nigeria?
Can't we refine it here for use?
Is TVC,Oriental Hotel and other tinubu's businesses buying diesel to run their generators or they get it free from government?
This is madness na.Check am

So the Navy is celebrating this shit? Even the Nigerian Navy should be ashamed of this so called arrest of Nigerian citizens attempting to flee a country that does not portend any iota of hope.

Shadomaan7:
Five Nigerians have been arrested while trying to flee from what they described as “the hash economic reality” in the country.

The stowaways who were arrested onboard a vessel, MRC NARTHA, were identified as
Effiong Okon (44), Ayewuni Daniel (27), Ajagboma Asiko (29), Adebanjo Ayewumi (23) and Christian Joseph (25).

They were arrested by naval officers from e Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT at the Lagos anchorage on August 26, 2023.

Commander NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Kolawole Olumide Oguntuga, who confirmed their arrest in a statement on Wednesday, said the five stowaways were evacuated from the vessel by a naval patrol team deployed to provide security at the Lagos anchorage.

According to Oguntuga, the operation was carried out at about 11.50pm on August 26, 2023, following a tip-off.

“Their arrest took place within the vicinity of the Lagos anchorage, while they were attempting to clandestinely exit the country via the vessel.

“Found in their possession are three mobile phones, personal effects and cash sum of N7,900. These confiscated items are now under official custody as evidence in the ongoing investigation

“The NNS BEECROFT patrol team’s swift and efficient response underscore the Navy’s dedication under the watch of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, towards maintaining the security and integrity of the country’s maritime borders,” he added.

Oguntuga said the apprehended stowaways were in the custody of the Navy, adding that the Nigerian Navy was cooperating with relevant authorities to prosecute the suspects.

The National Assembly will pass a law that will restrict any poor Nigerian from leaving the country, This democracy is for all, we need to enjoy this government together.

The problem with Nigeria is that tribal bigotry has blinded us to the extent that people would rather prefer to suffer in silence than call out a bad leader from their tribe.

We saw how the north kept defending Buhari, even with visible evidences of incompetence on his part. They kept using the media for propaganda and telling us that he's the best thing to ever happen to Nigeria since sliced bread.

Now the SW has picked up from where the north stopped. The worst thing about this Tinubu's government is that the suffering that comes with it has no breathing space.

Prices of things in the market keeps rising on a daily basis, so many families are finding it extremely difficult to feed. Yet this same people who can't even afford 2 meals a day are using propaganda and tribalism to defend this administration.

My question to them is what exactly are they defending? Most businesses are finding it extremely difficult to cope, a lot have shut down...But these dolts would rather spend their entire life barking tribalism on social media only to sleep on an empty stomach, than call out the incompetence of this administration. Isn't that foolishness?

I'm sure these stowaways saw Tinubu as the Messiah of Nigeria, but in less than 6 months of his administration, reality dawned on them, hence their decision to risk their lives on the ocean.

If we keep playing propaganda and tribalism politics, these heartless leaders would keep looting us dry cos they don't care about you. If you like insult the whole tribes in Nigeria, when you're done, you'll go to bed on an empty stomach while they allocate billions for themselves.

Make una continue.

Why arrest people who are only trying to better their lives? Do they want them to drown with this sinking ship of a country like Lord of Lemon who married the wrong woman and currently dying in his marriage?

It's a big shame my brother.

If only Yorubas visit their core villages to see what hunger is doing to their people. There is hunger in Nigeria and someone will sit tight in Lagos and be supporting rubbish. Education is not golden.

After voting bulabu u want to run away as my son will say never ....the danger of voting in presidential elections a man who lied about his age. but was still able to tell us he's above 70years, is that he might not even know what is going on in the country due to old age...old age reduces productivity of any human being ...that's why old people retire from public service....but in this country we elevate tribe and religion above public good...Jay Jay okocha was a good footballer. but does it mean he will go back to represent Nigeria as super Eagle player....tinubu did well in his younger years as governor but now he is the older version of the man we knew and admired...we don't have refineries yet subsidy was removed...now VAT is added to diesel .another by product of crude oil we have in large quantities in this country....who does that...are we been punished for having crude oil in this country?
