The Sweetest Friend Ever! by seyijohnson04: 6:35am On Oct 03, 2023
Good day my friends, I will like to introduce someone who can be regarded as the sweetest companion, the humblest, kindest, most loving and most compassionate person ever. All he showed to humanity while on earth was love—the love of God. Who is this person? His name is Jesus Christ. Please read on. This is very interesting.

Jesus was a most loving personality. He was the greatest person to have walked the earth. His life and philosophies have touched and changed billions of lives. Jesus was deeply humble, kind and compassionate. He shared the pains of the people and was moved by their plights. In one instance, he even wept, not because he felt powerless but because he loved the people and cared for them. Jesus would never see a person in need and move on without rendering help. He would stop and reverse the situation. Whereas other would wail and mourn, Jesus would bring joy to replace their sorrow. Jesus exemplified humility when he washed the feet of his disciples—his followers who sat and learned from him. As powerful as he was, he commanded no army and never for once raised the sword. Why would he raise the sword when he came to show that God loved the world? Even today, Jesus reveals himself to all those who want to know him and come to God, the Father.

Who really was Jesus? Rather, we should ask, “Who is Jesus?”. In answering this question, the question “where do we start from?” comes to mind. The best answer to start with can be taken from the answer of Peter when Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was. “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God”. These fine words revealed by God to Peter have remained timeless. The word Christ means “the anointed one”. It comes from the Greek word χριστός (chrīstós) which means the anointed one or the chosen one. The Hebrew translation of the word is Mashiach, that is, the Messiah. Jesus asked his disciples the question because he perceived people thought of his personality or identity in several ways that were not true. Interestingly, Jesus is described by most historical books or sources as a Jewish religious leader who lived in the period (4BC–30AD), the central or leading figure of Christianity—the world’s largest religion, and who is believed by Christians as the incarnation of God. We can attempt a definition of Jesus based on what we know from the Bible. However, before we do that, let’s explore Peter’s statement, taking cues from the Bible and known commentaries.

“The Son of the living God”. The word Son here does not mean an offspring or descendant. Son here implies the deity of Jesus, that is Jesus is of the same substance with God and one with God the Father. The term substance does not refer to a physical thing or a material thing, it refers to “kind”. Therefore, “of the same substance” implies “of the same kind”. The nature of Jesus and the meaning of the term “Son of God” was the primary reason for the Council of Nicaea in AD325 from which the Nicene Creed emerged: “We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.” “Of the living God” distinguishes the one true God from the idols which are dead, lifeless blocks of wood or stone.

Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah, who having being sent by God, came to the world to show humanity the love of God, died for the remission of our sins, resurrected and ascended back to heaven to prepare a place for all who believe in him so that in believing, they can be reconciled with God and have everlasting life.
Jesus was the very epitome of love, humility and compassion. He came to show humanity the love of God. Although, the Jews expected the Messiah—the Deliverer of the Jewish nation to be born as noble warrior, Jesus who was born in a manger grew up to be the most loving and meekest person to walk the face of the earth. He went about doing good, feeding the hungry, helping the poor, healing the sick, raising the dead, giving hope to the dejected, bringing joy to the oppressed and bringing salvation to the lost. Above all, Jesus lived to the glory of God. He would never take the praise or thanksgiving of men; he would tell them to glorify God, the Father in heaven. He would say “Thou shall see the glory of God”.

Jesus Christ is the Sweetest Friend to have. It is sweet to have Jesus. With Jesus, you will see the glory of God. With Jesus, your live will become beautiful. Your sins will be forgiven and your troubles will be erased. He will give you peace. With Jesus, we are assured of eternal life. Come to Jesus today. Come into the fulness of the Glory of God.
