On Wednesday, the Chinese search engine giant Baidu introduced a paid version of its Ernie bot, a product similar to ChatGPT, for a monthly fee of 59.9 yuan ($8.18). Ernie bot, like ChatGPT, relies on generative artificial intelligence and was the first among a series of Chinese AI-powered chatbots to be launched this year.
