The group has also hinted on an imminent price increase following the increasing cost of materials.

The bakers are also lamenting lack of access to foreign exchange which, according to them, is crippling the baking industry in addition to high levy on raw materials importation of bread production.

The national president of PBAN, Emmanuel Onuorah, who stated in Lagos during a courtesy visit to stakeholders in the baking industry also identified limited prospects for ease of doing business as another key impediment for the baking sector in the country.

He called on the federal government to make favourable and implementable economic policies that would encourage and promote baking in the country.

Yeah! I couldn't get bread yesterday because of their strike. They should focus on import substitution for their raw materials and ingredients, especially the flour. Increase the ratio of cassava composite to the mixture, they can even try potato flour (I heard its even better and great for baking). This will help reduce cost.
