Women's Coalition, Partnership for Advancing Women in Economic Development (PAWED), Urges Inclusive Agricultural Policy for Nigeria's Future

In response to the pressing need for a comprehensive and inclusive agricultural framework, the Partnership for Advancing Women in Economic Development (PAWED) and various women's Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have united to advocate for active engagement of women-led groups in the formulation, execution, and endorsement of Nigeria's agricultural strategy.

This strategy places nutrition and climate adaptation at its core, considering them fundamental pillars of the nation's food security.

At a press briefing held on November 7 in Abuja, Hajiya Lami Adamu-Lau, the national president of the National Council for Women's Societies (NCWS) and the head of the coalition, underscored the crucial role played by their members who specialize in nutrition, agriculture, and gender.

According to her, the unique expertise of these women uniquely positions them to ensure the successful implementation of policies when provided with adequate support.

Adamu-Lau emphasized the importance of gender inclusion in agricultural policy implementation, particularly in the context of food security, highlighting the direct correlation between gender inclusivity and effective policy outcomes.
