What's happening on Nairaland , no update on the ongoing labour and TUC strike. Nairaland is becoming so partisan of recent.

No need to panic. The CBN should make cash available abeg.

Because of inflation, CBN is limiting cash in circulation

This is a great development.

Anyways, please hike interest rates to bring down inflation. It will also strengthen the Naira. and boost market confidence.

The present negative interest rates makes one think monkeys are running the CBN.

The primary thing driving inflation in Nigeria is cost push not demand pull

So hiking interest rates won't work much

The supply side issues need to be tackled; and watch especially food inflation go down

Trust me, it will work.

It is always better to raise rates and fail than to do nothing. That has always been the experience. You need to assure the markets that you'll defend your currency at all cost.

This isn't bank loans.

This is direct from the CBN using treasury bills or central bank bills used for mopping up excess cash

1. Na ogun go kill Emefele
2. Some criminal elements have started keeping naira in their vaults, especially those politicians and some other fools. So scarcity of the notes might strike again, before Christmas. Nigeria should better brace up.

After making a lot of people pass through pains, duress , etc to get only a meagre part of their money due to political power.
God will p*nish Mr Emefiele and every person involved in making that evil cash policy. sad angry...
He is still carrying Bible up and down court.
He might need to add other religious books by the time curses of pained Nigerians start catching up with him. angry

What is difficult in withdrawing the old notes and replacing them with new ones gradually till the process is complete, how can you have two different currencies operating for such a long period of time without any end in sight and you call urself a competent CBN governor, I fear another emefiele has been put in charge again and the economy will suffer for it

CBN is mad. Instead of them to speak plain English so as not to confuse people like before ; they resort in using latin word 'Ad finitum'...

Useless and confused party..

Do you know how many people that died because of this policy?..
People gave away their old notes and threw them away..

This is how a directionless and hopeless party reigns.. Chaos everywhere

Edited : Pigs quoting up there , have forgotten so soon how their darling daddy appointed Emefiele and taught him how to wreck the country's Economy..

Nobody appointed Emefiele for Buhari and APc.. And the foolish man said he took orders directly from Buhari..

UP there quoting and defending the indefensible is a fool pushing the blames of APc's failure down to his generation....

Spits..

The Blacks Slaves knew what it meant to be
Whipped and beaten on their Behinds with no Court to Appeal to except for God

At least you do know that Slaves were whipped on their Backs and Backsides which were their behinds all day long

It is recently immorality that is making people think it means something else
