We'll Continue To Create Ambience For Our Youth - Ogsg by Ainaolusegun: 7:21pm On Nov 28, 2023
Ogun State Government has reiterated its desire to continue to provide the needed ambiance for youth to realise their positive potential, as youth development remains a focal point in the development agenda of the State.

Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, made this known at the formal swearing-in ceremony of 2023 Batch C, Stream II, Orientation Course, for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, held at the Gateway National Stadium, Sagamu, noting that the State identified the youth population as the major driver of its economic and socio-political programmes.

Governor Abiodun who was represented by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka stated that the State placed a higher premium on creating an enabling environment for the youth to maximise their potential, with a view to advancing their careers and simultaneously contributing to national development.

The Governor said NYSC programmes are designed to equip Corp members physically, psychologically and socially for the onerous task of national integration, pointing out that their mobilisation for service is a clarion call for them to rise up to the task of nation building.

"Our administration has continued to make massive strides in our efforts at fast tracking the development of our State and improving the welfare of our people. These include the massive development of infrastructure, as we continue road construction/commissioning in various parts of the State. This is expected to open up the State for the establishment of medium and large scale industries, which will in turn stimulate economic growth and empowerment of our people", the Governor said.

Speaking earlier, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Nasamu Olayinka noted that the policy of the NYSC was segmented into four cardinal programmes; Orientation, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS) and the winding-up and passing out, saying the three-week long orientation exercise is packaged to instill in the Corps members disciplined mind and sense of self-reliance needed to face the challenges ahead.

She charged the Corps members to take every aspect of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, appreciating Governor Abiodun for his numerous support and prompt attention to their requests and safety of the Corps members.
