The Enyimba Economic City is a 9,464 hectare tax and duty free special economic zone that aims to transform Abia State, Nigeria into a manufacturing and industrial powerhouse. It’s designed to create a global business hub in Nigeria with world class infrastructure, including dedicated 24/7 power, and broadband internet.

Enyimba Economic City was proposed as a solution to the economic and infrastructure challenges faced by Aba City, the largest city in Abia state. Aba is a thriving centre for commerce and industry in Nigeria, known for its textiles, leather goods and extensive trading networks. Nonetheless, in recent decades, the city had fallen into decline, with outdated infrastructure and inadequate facilities hampering its growth. A significant cause to this fall in infrastructure is the city’s growing population, poor planning structure and lack of institutions.

The idea behind Enyimba Economic City was to create a modern, sustainable city that would revive Aba’s economic fortunes and provide a better quality of life for its residents.

The project was initiated by the Abia State government and a consortium of private investors to create a world-class city that would attract investment and drive economic growth.

The city is being built on a massive 9,464-hectare site, with a focus on providing high-quality infrastructure, modern technology, and green spaces.

The first phase of construction is already underway, and when complete, Enyimba Economic City is expected to be a hub for local and international businesses, as well as a centre for innovation and technology.
