This is gross, patiently waiting in the comments section for the name of this meal. Meanwhile immerse yourself in a world of rich music depths and no interruptions with the oraimo spacepods.

That's Egboo ( cooked mashed corn) and Ewan ( beans ) with sauce and of course proteins

It takes almost 10 hours to prepare the Egboo ( marshed corn) but very delicious

When we were kids, we also ate it with ororo ( groundnut oil)

Tasty

I ate that white portion back when I was little and living in Ibadan. Didn't like the texture in the mouth.

You will need a separate plate.

How do they sell it. Is it in derica or custard bucket?
And where can it be purchased?
Error401:
No please, its made from sun dried white maize grit
You only need to dry the maize and grit into smaller particles and cooked for 10-12 hours. Its quite easy to make.

I've come across this dish (the white stuff) a few times, but I don't know what it's called or what it's made from.
What I do know is that it is a dish from the Southwest region of Nigeria.

Do you know this👇🏼dish? Let me know.

This is tasty I haven’t eat it but would like too

Re: What Is This Dish Called? (picture) by Error401: 8:11pm On Dec 15, 2023
Yes, that's how its done, my mum used to prepare it overnight back then when we were young. Its best with firewood or coal pot.
I dont know if the method has changed overtime, but its done that way.

mariahAngel:

10-12 hours? 🥺
That means one has to begin the cooking the day before, and on a coal pot too.
Re: What Is This Dish Called? (picture) by Error401: 8:12pm On Dec 15, 2023
I ate last in 2018

Agidi. Other ones na wetin.

That is Egbo, not Agidi. Egbo is usually eaten with beans, which is also on the plate.

Egbo is a Yoruba food but it is no longer common.

BarristerWumi:
It’s an extinct Yoruba meal.
Never survived the late 90’s because it takes about 7 hours to cook wasting gas, time & energy.

It’s called Egbo. Hence the slang E yéé ririn mere sègbo. Meaning, don’t bother with distance likened to the nature of that time wasting meal.

It should be brought back.
We mustn't lose these core ethnic dishes.

I find it so fascinating that we have dishes people know about, but which are no longer common.

Do you know of other such dishes? wink wink
Re: What Is This Dish Called? (picture) by Error401: 8:30pm On Dec 15, 2023
You should have it in Congo. Back then, my mum buys the normal dried maize in congo and take it to those people who grinds in the market to grate it. Im talking about 2007/08. I dont know how its done now

Egbo. Corn meal.

Yes, egbo ati ewa, with some pepper, then fried eja yoyo, ponmo and meat marinated in pepper sauce.

They used a wrong presentation for the meal. You dont use this kind of plate to serve egbo and ewa. This is wrong.

Do they remove the outer part of the corn (like how you'd do with beans for moi-moi) before cooking it?
I kinda looks smooth and creamy in texture.
Exactly!

Right but d outer part of d corn is usually removed.
A pressure pot can cook it faster too.
