ICCIMA Holds 4th Council Meeting In Igbonna, Talks About Value Chain In Agriculture For Economic Development


The Ibolo Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has held its 4th quarter meeting in Igbonna, Oyun Local Government area of Kwara State.

The meeting held on Thursday 28th of December 2023 focused on how cooperative society in Ibolo Land can be utilised to achieve a sustainable organic agricultural practices and value chain.

In his welcome address, the President of ICCIMA, Mr. Paul Olagunju represented by the Deputy President, Engr. Bashir Lawal FNSE thanked Kabiesi Onigbonna of Igbonna, Oba Abubakar Oloyede Sholadoye for his warm reception of the ICCIMA for the council meeting and appreciated the Local Organizing Committee led by the National President of Igbonna Descendants' Progressive Association, Barr. Salami Adeniyi for the excellent arrangement and hospitality extended to the Council members.

Speaking on the premise of the council meeting, the President noted that the chamber is working assiduously to attract investments to Ibolo land. He said the ICCIMA is a conglomeration of agrarian communities that need to turn the potential of the community into wealth by adding value to the various agricultural products in different communities.

He therefore calls on prospective investors to see Ibolo land as a preferred destination for investments for purchase of produce and setting up factories for production using available raw materials.

The guest speaker, Engr. Dr. Oyeleke Raifu Brown who spoke on the the place of cooperative society in Ibolo land in achieving sustainable organic agricultural practices and value chain, enunciated the importance of cooperative society as a catalyst to achieving economic growth. He urged the Ibolo communities to embrace the idea of establishing a registered cooperative society to boost agro-businesses and increase the value chain.

Dr. Oyeleke noted that collective responsibility is the driving force to the desired growth and development of Ibolo communities, which can be achieved through a cooperative society to enhance agricultural businesses and value chain.

Earlier, the Onigbonna of Igbonna, Oba Abubakar Oloyede Sholadoye Oyelowo commended ICCIMA on developmental strides and efforts to transform the Ibolo Kingdom into a great economic hub. Kabiesi noted that Igbonna is blessed with arable land and natural resources that can be tapped for economic growth and prosperity. He added that the people of Igbonna are industrious and ready to utilise the opportunity of ICCIMA's developmental initiative as a charitable means of empowerment.

The chamber subsequently presented an award of excellence to Kabiesi for his fatherly role and support for ICCIMA's aims and objectives for Ibolo Kingdom.
