Some dundees are saying it has nothing to do with the last and current administration that has bastardised the economy.

Why would you exit a flourishing market, name one quality detergent better than sunlight....none!

If you can compromise the quality of your product you have no other option than to exit

According to FreeStuffsNG and his co-travellers, Nigeria will turn into Switzerland in a matter of days now. Food is cheap and the naira is stronger than ever at an all time low price of 1360/$

Dangote will sell us fuel at the price of #50/lt soon and a bag of rice will go back to the 8k it was selling for when Jonathan was intimidated out of office barely 9 years ago.

It's not even been up to a decade since nigerians decided to give the APC a chance, yet look at how much ruin our country is in. When some of us speak out, it will look as if we like it when bad things happen to our country, but that's very far from the truth! We only console ourselves with making mockery of APC supporters stupidity. We know all too well that whatever terrible consequence the APC government's incompetence brings to the table, we will all partake in it!

It just feels like yesterday, Buhari came in promising Eldorado. But upon seeing that it isn't as easy as Jonathan made it look, they decided to devise a means that will ensure that Nigerians don't give them the Ghadaffi treatment>>>> TRIBALISM. It worked so well, and ever since then, the APC has become invincible. No matter how low they sink this country, mark my words, they will always get away with it! At this point, someone has to step in or else...
Anyone waiting for a revolution is just wasting his time. All the APC has to do is pay Sam Larry and his thugs to infiltrate whatever protest or revolution and cause mayhem. If you cannot stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Understand: they have massive infrastructure investment, high personnel cost, and the Chinese are being allowed to flood the market with cheap products. In a recession, people buy what they can afford, without caring about quality. If it's cheaper for them to produce in Ghana, they are best served by renting off their factories and moving production elsewhere.

Nigeria is the loser in the end.

You claim it's harsh economy but there are now so many detergent products in the market compared over 20 years ago that it was almost only Omo, lux and joy. Let's be more practical when commenting and not be too pessimistic.

You are on point with your assertion, these brands have never been up and doing since there Inception into the Nigerian Market, tge said OMO isn't even foamy, never liked it when growing up, thank God klin and Ariel came to my rescue as regards washing of clothes, OMO was nothing to write home about, they were living on the premise that they own Nigeria as you have joined, Unilever brothers, and as such could dish out substandard product to the market, that was one of their biggest undoings..
These has got nothing to do with the economy, they simply can't compete with the new cats in town, Dangote noodles too had to pack up for the big boys within that sector, the competition is strive.

Omo still dey market? Can't remember the last time I saw the product in the market. They should have rebranded instead of stopping the production. Bringing back the blue color of the detergent would have been nostalgic

Ariel, klin and other new detergents render it unpopular. They ought to have rebranded it long ago to remain in competition with others. They fumbled.

This is purely competition and has nothing to suggest that it is borne out of bad economic policies. Are there other alternative products in the market and why has Unilever consistently suffered loss in those products, a SWOT analysis will provide a clue that the company has failed on its research and development in rebranding and repacking the products. Customers have discovered better alternatives and probably at lower cost

That's just it for Omo!
Lux was my bathing soap and I used to buy one pack at a time. I just discovered that the price gradually increased from around N600 to N1200, then it suddenly jumped to N1500 and I stopped buying it. Now, I just understood what happened, its production stopped.

They floated another brand which was successful. Sunlight. Companies do that all the time. Floating other products to compete with the flagship product. At the end of the day, all the money comes to them. It's either you are buying Omo or sunlight or another of their products. The company is the winner at the end

Do you understand business? Rebranded will cost money us they have competition couple with the fact that cost of production has gone astronomical high.
