OYO STATE LIBRARY BOARD HOSTS IBADAN BOOK CLUB JANUARY READING ON SATURDAY

The Oyo State Library Board is set to play host to the Ibadan Book Club's much-anticipated January Reading event. Scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024, the literary gathering will take place at the Oyo State Library Board, conveniently located opposite Cocoa House in Dugbe, Ibadan. The event is slated to commence at 12 PM, promising an engaging and enriching experience for attendees.

The January Reading will feature three distinguished guest speakers, each bringing a unique perspective to the literary discourse.

AKINOLA SESAN

Akinola Sesan, a seasoned writer and former contributor to Tuck Magazine, stands out as an award-winning Nigerian poet, performing playwright, literary critic, and a staunch mental health advocate. His creative journey has left an indelible mark, with notable achievements in the realm of literature and the performing arts.

One of his noteworthy plays, "The Trials of Orisa," received acclaim when performed during a theatre workshop at the Department of Languages and Linguistics, Osun State University, Ikire campus. This performance, alongside Ahmed Yerima's "Otaelo," showcased Sesan's talent and versatility. Another one of his plays, "Naira and Kobo," was staged at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ibadan, further solidifying his reputation in the theatrical sphere.

Akinola Sesan has actively contributed to the works of renowned figures in the Nigerian artistic scene, including collaborations with folk artist and writer Segun Akinlolu (Beautiful Nubia), Femi Osofisan, Olarotimi, Ahmed Yerima, Wole Soyinka, Esiaba Irobi, and Indian poet and professor Ujjwala Kakarla, notably on the book "Manifold Visions of Self."

His poetic prowess extends far beyond borders, with his works gracing the pages of both local and international magazines and journals. Akinola Sesan's poems have found their way into anthologies in Zimbabwe, Angola, India, and other global destinations. Recently, his inclusion in the anthology "Love is a Divine Fragrance," a collection of world poetry on gender issues, marked another milestone. He was one of 64 poets selected from 24 countries for this notable publication based in India.

Akinola Sesan is the author of "Tomorrow, At Sunrise," a collection of poetry, and "The Grief of Anibala," as well as "Poems of Metaphysics," available on Amazon as an online e-book. Residing in Ibadan, Nigeria, he shares his life with his wife, making an impact not only through his literary contributions but also through his commitment to advocacy and creative expression.

AJOBO MUSLEUDEEN AKINLABI

Ajobo Musleudeen Akinlabi, a seasoned individual with a wealth of experience spanning over five decades. Born into a modest family, he is the proud offspring of Hadj Chief Dr. & Mrs. Ajobo Abdul-Razak Adebayo. Ajobo embarked on his educational journey at U. M. C. Demonstration School, Molete, and later continued his studies at Ibadan Grammar School, Molete. Despite encountering numerous challenges as a Full-Time and Part-Time student in various Higher Institutions, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of academic excellence, driven by a determination to fulfill his dreams, In Shaa Allah.

Ajobo is not defined by age, and his resilience shines through as he is a retired Oyo State Local Government Pensioner. His commitment to his faith is evident, as he proudly identifies as a follower of Islam.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Ajobo has a passion for Table-Tennis and is deeply involved in politics characterized by integrity. He is the visionary force behind Labby Mega e-Revelation Services, a venture specializing in Bookservices and Herbal Products Supplies.

In his personal life, Ajobo finds joy in the companionship of his vibrant spouse, Hamdalat. Together, they are blessed with an ambitious daughter named Haleeah. AJOBO proudly embraces his roots, declaring himself as a proud Omo Ibadan.

ADEPOJU TIMILEYIN O.

Adepoju Timileyin O., known by the pen name Juste Ink, a creative spirit hailing from Ibadan, Nigeria. In the intricate tapestry of his identity, he proudly stands as his mother's son and a dedicated writer with a penchant for expressing his unique perspective through the art of poetry.

Beyond his literary endeavors, Adepoju Timileyin is a skilled fashion designer, adding a vibrant dimension to his creative repertoire. The arts hold a special place in his heart, and he harbors an exclusive passion for hip hop music, infusing his life with rhythm and melody.
