cool

A great event. In comparison, this is more than the American Superbowl, NBA, and even the just concluded Asian Cup.

AFCON showed the world that we can organize great sporting events. The only problem I have was with the finals. Our fans were clearly denied tickets or sold to at exhorbitant prices.

Virtually everywhere one looked at in the stadium was covered with orange jerseys.

Well, kudos to the Ivoriens.

This is the best Africa cup of nation ever in all areas, organising stadium, officiating, players skills, fans control etc.

If burkinafaso can host, there is hope for them

It's was because Nigeria stayed longer in the competition and the subsequent social media buzz from mostly Nigerians that piled up the viewing numbers.

True... It was a thing of beauty.

I want more African nations dominating like that.

I believe with some serious work and commitment, one of us will get to the world cup finals.

Funny things is that, they will be comparing that so called Super Bowl to Football.

Over 2.2B watched AFCON this year according to CAF, that’s the highest view in the history of CAF.
The final is the most watched final behind 2022 World Cup final.

Many watched because they want Nigeria to fail, and even Sky sport showed the games.

When you have very little to boast about as a country you then begin to make up stories that afcon had 2 billion views bcoz your country made it to the finals.

I listened to the BBC analysis of the views and its because of the unpredictable nature of the tournament from day 1, and the fairytale stories. Even from the beginning of the tournament Asian audiences were complaining that the BBC favoured afcon over the Asian Cup.

Every other unsubstantiated claim is a figment of people's hungry imagine, since they cant eat aftobeats - the only thing they can boast of.

But how is this calculated??
How would they know the exact number of viewers per household??

Of course, they can know the exact number of active decoders during live matches, but would they know the number of viewers on that particular decoders??

We have hosted it twice before. We have also hosted a youth World Cup, Nigeria 99.

Let’s improve our infrastructure first, boost our megawatt, improve our rails, fix our roads, improve security, so when visitors come, they experience organic beauty. You also don’t want lights going off during matches or some bunch of foreigners getting kidnapped.

If we just do gra gra, host, build white elephant stadiums, etc, will be waste of money and won’t benefit Nigeria.

We don’t want to waste billions building stadiums, only for the stadiums to go moribund after 5 weeks of usage.

Youth world cup twice

Under 19 World Cup in 1999

And under 17 World Cup in 2009

It's because ivory coast hosted the tournament brilliantly. Unlike the one of 2022 in Cameroon which was somehow anyhow

Africa is meant to be among the greatest continents on earth if not the greatest.
But the people are mentally colonized, suffering confused identity and religiously blind.

The tournament is every two years and there are over 50 countries in the continent.

In the spirit of equity, are you supposed to clamour for another hosting now?

GenZ.

Go and check how many times Egypt has hosted the tournament during that span of 24 years. The fact that we have 54 countries in Africa doesn't mean all of them are capable of hosting AFCON. Even Nigeria co-hosted with Ghana last time.

I'm sure na because Nigerians increase the hype of the tournaments due to our unnecessary bantering of other opposing countries on social media; thereby increasing the views of the tournament. No use Nigerians and social media play.

some of you will always find a way to link any great feat been achieved in Africa just to come online and brag.
