A Leading Shipping company in Nigeria requires suitable candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Caption (Offshore)

Department: Business Operations

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Rivers State, Nigeria

Experience: 5-7 years’ experience working in offshore oil and gas operations or similar industries.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Safely operate and manoeuvre the vessel in various weather conditions and environments.
2. Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations, company policies, and international standards.
3. Oversee maintenance and repair activities to keep the vessel in optimal working condition.
4. Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards.
5. Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions for crew members.
6. Maintain emergency response plans and ensure readiness to handle any crisis.
7. Monitor weather forecasts and make decisions to ensure the safety of the vessel and crew.
8. Demonstrate strong seamanship skills, including anchoring, mooring, and towing operations.
9. Lead and motivate a team of crew members to achieve operational excellence.
10. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to crew members.
11. Foster a positive work environment based on mutual respect, collaboration, and accountability.
12. Maintain clear and effective communication with crew members, shore-based personnel, and other vessels.
13. Coordinate with port authorities, pilotage services, and other stakeholders as necessary.
14. Keep accurate records of vessel activities, including voyage logs, maintenance reports, and incident documentation.

Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in business management or any related field
• 5-7 years’ experience working in offshore oil and gas operations or similar industries.
• Certifications or training in maritime safety, emergency response, or environmental management.
• Hold a valid Captain's license (Master Mariner) issued by a recognized maritime authority.
• In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations, navigation techniques, and safety procedures.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
