It’s not just about women. It’s almost cultural for a Nigerian man to honour, appreciate and love with his resources. If I’m in a public transportation and I see someone younger than me, male or female, I have the responsibility to pay their fares. Same would apply if they were at a restaurant.

Giving money to our parents, aunties, nieces, nephews, friends etc. All these are strange practices in the west. There is an honour that comes with being able to give. Where we draw the line is when entitlement comes in. When you begin to demand or get upset when you aren’t given.

You give to people when you like them, not necessarily because you want them to like you. When you split rent with your parent and restaurant bill with your bf, Someone buying you a plate of food on a random Tuesday is very generous.

This is how xenophobia take start for South Africa, before you know it they started killing Nigerians. The annoying part is that back at home some fools turned it to a tribal thing that it was Igbos that cause it, hope thesame thing won't start in UK.
