Yes, Frank, your Motorola A1000 phone will work in Nigeria since MTN/Vmobile/MTEL/Glo will let you use their SIMs on any GSM-compatible phone. Welcome to Nairaland.

I've seen the phone with someone in Lagos about 2 weeks ago. He brought it from Uk, and it is working with our network here. Just know that the phone's memory is not much, and you may have to wait a little while before you a purchase a T-Flash Memory here, in case you want to upgrade.

not always, here one providor's sim cards don't work in any other phones than the ones they came in due to some wierd formatting that is apparantly common amount countries like korea.

the GSM band also matters. It has to be compatible with the band been used in Nigeria.

frank o, na wa for u o. u be 419? i see another post about tv, now na A1000.
For the record, the a1000 is a 3g phone. not sure it will work with 2nd generation sim card. i have both the a1000 and the p910 in the UK, but i dont want 2 risk swapping d cards as the instruction say i shouldn't. On the othe hand when i was in nigeria 2 mths ago i saw a friend using an NEC 3g fone on MTN. So it may work after all. keep us posted

Ladies & gentle men, as long as it has a long standby time like Nokia 1100-400hrs, 3100-410hrs, 3120-410hrs, 6310i-480hrs, 6610i-432hrs, Philips 639-400hrs, 855-400hrs, Siemense SF 65-400Hrs, Sony Ericsson K750i-400hrs, P900-400hrs, P910i-400hrs, I for one do not care about its level of suffistication as long as it gives me the obvious basisc services.
