Samsung regained its number-one position in the global smartphone market, surpassing Apple. The South Korean firm achieved this feat just one quarter after being pushed down to second place.

The impressive sales of the Galaxy S24 series, which was launched earlier in the year, contributed to Samsung’s success.
During Q1 2024, Samsung sold over 60 million smartphones. Meanwhile, Apple sold 50.1 million iPhones, experiencing a 9.6% drop in sales compared to Q1 2023. Xiaomi also made a strong comeback, ranking third in the global smartphone market with sales of over 40.8 million smartphones during the same period.

Transsion, too, saw a gigantic 84.9% sales jump to 28.5 million units. Overall, 289.4 million smartphones were shipped globally in Q1 2024, marking a 7.8% rise in shipments compared to the previous year’s first quarter. Samsung’s market share may have decreased slightly from Q1 2023, but its resurgence is evident, and it remains a dominant player in the smartphone industry.
