Psychologists would recommend that if you have any bad habit or thought you want to put an end to, don't fight it but instead let it establish itself and train your mind gradually to live without it. As time goes on, you would see the desire wearing off and eventually, you no longer have the impulse to do it again.

If you speak to any teenager like this, believe me he or she would stop telling you anything and run away from you. Addictions are difficult to stop. All of em. It's psychological. People stop gradually

Porn, mastubation, wet dreams are addictions driven by sexual urge- this urge is the most powerful known to man. Man can do anything to satisfy his sexual urge- anything.
We don't know this things because people who indulge in them are to ashamed to discuss it openly thus it's a non-criminal habit done in secret.
Even married people who indulge in it do not tell their spouse.

If U think U can motivate yourself out of sexual urge- U must be joking.
The problem is sexual urge is natural, it's part of your body system that makes u human. Without sexual urge, how can U fulfil God's commandment to procreate and be fruitful

U can't wish sexual desire away, it will surely come.
The only way to overcome the sin that comes with sexual urge is to be filled with the power that overcomes sin- Holy spirit.

And the holy spirit comes by regular meditation and constant reading the word of God. The more U enmesh yourself in the word and let it fill your mind, U will notice your desire for sin will be gone. Its a mystery but it works.

Many people lack comprehension skills. They listen or read to react without having understanding of the subject matter. What the clergyman is saying is what every shrink knows, you don't yank out an addiction or fight it with brute force, rather u replace the addiction with another more tolerable one; this time, with God's word. Treating addictions is a gradual process.

I have to agree with Damina on this one. Porn addiction is very difficult to stop abruptly I am speaking from experience. While I was praying to God to free me from porn masturbation and gambling I always find myself going back. At a time I felt that was my own poison and I can't be free. Until I started replacing watching porn with watching the teachings of apostle Joshua Selman on YouTube. I always get the urge to watch porn and masturbate in the morning while preparing for work. What I did is when I go to the bathroom I just open YouTube and start listening to his sermon and prayers. I did it for some time until it became a norm. Surprisingly I went more than 6 months no porn or masturbation. The urge still came but it wasn't as strong as it used to be. For gambling it's a bit different I just had to tell myself I don't need to gamble to survive. I had a job that pays well why should I be looking for one life changing encounter from gambling. Had to enrol for online data analysis training which keeps me occupied on weekends I don't even have the time to watch matches not to talk of cooking games. It's more than 6 months I deactivated all my betting accounts and I have been better for it. Pastor Damina as controversial as he always sound, I think he is spot on on this.

I agree with him. If you abruptly cut yourself off any addiction, you will relapse and fall in deeper. Best way to beat the addiction is by reducing your attachment to it while doing other productive things. With time you'll adjust to doing without it.

Yeah right. I know of any lady who breaks her fast with weed and alcohol. She wanted to be a devout Christian but her addictions were still there. She kept doing it until one day it disappeared. So Abel Damina is right. In fact there's a way you'll masturbate and watch porn till you'll get tired of it. But if you quit early without getting tired, you keep going back. Now that's another controversial method to quit that conservatives will certainly frown at.
