I just had to start this thread being the Spec Ops junkie that I am. I’ve had the MW3 for about one week now and I’ve only made it to level 22 in the survival mode.

How are other NLanders faring? What strategy do you use and how do you guys take out those hell-awful riot shield juggernauts?

Please share any of your Spec ops related experiences here.

Seems I'm the only one here who plays the spec ops. undecided

Anyways I made it to level 23 last night in the Underground map. My current rank is Lieutenant II. smiley
So far I've been using claymores to take out Juggernauts, the only problem is that this method takes a long time. You have to set the claymores in the path of the 'nauts but they mustn't see it otherwise they shoot it up before they get there. I can't wait to unlock the Barretta .50 Cal Sniper rifle, I have since MW2 found it be an effective weapon against Juggernauts but it can only be unlocked at level 28 sad
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by ritchboy(m): 10:34am On Dec 02, 2011
^^ Are you playing it alone(solo)? I only find it (really) fun in co-op mode.

I haven't even started yet cos there are just too many good games out now that i haven't even finished: U3, Arkham City, Skyrim(barely played it), LA Noire(don't ask me why!), etc. Not to mention finding time for FIFA, PES, Forza, MvC et al. My addiction to Gears doesn't help matters at all! grin

I just realized i haven't even touched Reach in like a month, yikes!
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 11:36am On Dec 02, 2011
Yeah I’ve been playing solo, the co-op mode is mighty fun but no broadband at home. The most I can hope for is split screen but that’s on weekends when I’ll have the time to invite a buddie over. It is gaming season, man, I wonder how I’ll even manage to get anything done what will all the offerings available. U3 is next on my list but there is NO way I’ll finish that anytime soon. U2 took me many months to complete and I don’t see U3 being any different in that regard.
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 9:12am On Dec 05, 2011
OK after a weekend of countless repeated attempts I am still stuck at Wave 23 on the Underground map. I have however been able to rank up to Major II - salute me grin and have unlocked several weapons like the FAD assault rifle and all of the machine pistols. Still haven't unlocked the Barrett .50 Cal sniper rifle, the very effective answer to juggernauts IMO. Been recently using flashbangs grenades and C4 in addition to emptying my whole clip just to take out those 'nauts. A rather expensive strategy and sometimes I usually get caught in the shock of my own flashbang which just messes everything up especially when there's more than one naut attacking you. (Gosh I hate it when they run at you)

Its not only the Underground which I have played, so far my favorite survival map is Seatown (tier 2?). I think its a beautifully designed map with lots of escape routes, one area easily leads to another which is very useful for bailing out when things get very hot. I have only made it to level 15 on this map. Thats my report for now though, over and out.  smiley

I found this map of Seatown and decided to put it up here. Just so that folks can see what I mean

Still stuck at wave 23  angry but have ranked up to Lieutenant Colonel.

Is there anyone who has survived past wave 23 on the survival mode here? Anybody?
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 8:41am On Dec 07, 2011
I just realized that I have been mistaking the waves for levels, I'v actually been unable to get past Wave 23 and not level 23. My current level is 43. Will go back and edit previous comments.

Since I appear to be the only one making entries on this thread, I might as well go ahead and crown myself the Nairaland MW3 Spec Ops King. No one can beat my record. cool

Oh yeah? How many stars were you able to get in MW2. I managed 49 out of 69. I finished all the missions on Veteran – well almost all, how any living human being can finish the Echo missions on Hardened let alone Veteran is beyond me. I wish there was a way to put up screen shots of my record from my PS3 though. An example of my feat; In The Alpha mission, O Cristo Rendentor, Infinity Ward’s best time for completing the mission is 1min, 13secs (I suspect that since they are the developers they did that with cheats or something because again that is another impossible achievement!) I completed it in 1m 49 secs. How cool is that. cool
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 2:16pm On Dec 09, 2011
Wave 24 finally! Didn’t last long here though; heavily armed troops in robot looking vests, attack dogs strapped with C4 and multiple helicopters ensured my short stay here. I set up a sentry gun which was taken offline by the hostiles in no time. This stage is brutal. I didn’t even have time to request Air support from the Riot shield squad which I had gotten. Next time I’ll start with the riot shield and sentry gun first. Meanwhile salute your Colonel II.  cool

Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 1:27pm On Dec 12, 2011
Level 50/Wave 25 and I must say I am sorely disappointed – I unlocked the supposed sniper rifle of my game dreams the Barrett.50 Cal only to find that it is a shell of its former self. What was Infinity Ward thinking?! In real life a well placed shot from this gun in the engine block of a moving car will immobilize it.( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrett_M82) Back in MW2 5 shots will kill a juggernaut, in this game I almost exhausted my clip and the ‘naut was still standing! This is a design fail!

But not all my level 50 unlockings have been disappointing. The Air Care Perk - Sleight of Hand is nothing short of a shooter’s delight. Talk about trigger finger; the superhuman reloading speed that this feature adds means you practically have continuous firepower for as long as you have bullets. Imagine combining this feature with Extreme Conditioning another Air Care Perk and you have the super soldier alas only one perk is allowed at a time.

Guess who ranked up to General now? Yes yes, you know the drill - salute me cool
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 8:40am On Dec 20, 2011
What have I not tried? Wave 25 appears to be my limit but I guess I'll just have to push harder. This has been a solo effort so far, maybe its time I get some help. . .or maybe its time I give the other Spec Ops missions a try. cry

Celebrations Imminent!
Metal 0-4 You are advised to stand down and cease all hostilities for today. Repeat do not engage any hostiles. It's Christmas, hunker down and make the most of this special day. Over

Merry Christmas to all MW3 fans on NL, heck Merry Christmas to everyone. Have a blast! cheesy

I got all 69 stars in MW2. I have the platinum trophy (i don't mean to brag or anything grin)
Yeah Jugs were a problem. I remember claymores being effective against them, and snipers also. Snipers do huge damage so if you can manage to destabilize them with the claymore and snipe their heads you can do big damage and take em down easily.
I haven't gone into MW3 at all though. I've had it for about two months but I haven't even opened
it once. I really don't know why, used to be a COD junkie but with how similar the releases have been there's nothing really pushing me to want to go into he game like that. Same ol' same ol'. Lost my hype. I'll eventually get into it. Been playing Battlefield 3 since launch though. Also playing AC Revelations on PS3 and Skyrim on PC. Those have been keeping me busy lately.
Whats your PSN ID? Maybe when I get into MW3 we can co-op the thing.
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 9:54am On Feb 16, 2012
My ID which is similar to my NL handle must be rusting away somewhere in the PSN servers as I can't connect from home. sad
I have been playing Battlefield 3 too but my copy of the game must be the most bug ridden copy that EA has pushed, the thing freezes weirdly so my progress in the game has been stalled. Haven’t finished the campaign. Progress, however in MW3 Survival mode, has been ever so marginal; I’ve made it to wave 27. Survival is hard as hell but I delight in increasing the points earned from headblasts and kill streaks. My first order of business when Air Support becomes available is to purchase Sleight of Hands then I slug it from there. I’m running out of strategies. Maybe online is the way forward as I can't seem to do it on my own anymore. embarassed

Like Ibro i just can't find the motivation/time to really get into Special Ops. In fact I've only touched MW two or three times since i finished the campaign last year. So many good titles out now!

As for the Juggernauts, when they're outside sniping zone, I found in MW2 it's best to fight poison with poison. If you can get your hands on one of em "armor-piercing" guns they carry(i love the ACOG), i think it's the most effective weapon for juggernauts in (not so) CQC.
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by tayo03us1: 4:14pm On May 15, 2012
Hello people.

Been playing mw3 for about 2 to 3 months now.

Have finished the campaign mode on verteran and am currently on about 75% completion of the trophies.

Have also reached the final level on the special ops i.e. ranking level 50, 103% completion on the campaign (yes 103%) and about level 19 on the multiplayer campaign (maximum is level 80).

As regards the survival mode under special ops, out of the 16 different maps, have been able to reach level 15 and above for about 14 of them. My highest wave is 31 for "resistance" which is under the "easy" section. whilst for the "insane" have been able to reach a maximum of wave 19 for the top 2 under insane. Hope to conclude the other 2 missions under insane by this weekend.

As regards the juggernauts, the easiest way to kill them is to make sure you have both the "flashbanger" and any weapon under "light machines guns (cost about $7,000)". With the flashbangers you will be able to stun the jugs, whilst for the light machine guns you will be able to fire enough shots to quickly kill the jug. I must also mention here that you should throw the flashbanger when the jug is around a corner. This is to ensure that you too are not stunned. Once the flashbanger is thrown, immediately get as close as you can (not too close) to the jug and aim straight for its head using a light machine gun. With a minimum of 24 shots (or less)you will immediately kill the jug. This means with 1 light machine gun and about 4 flashbangers, you can take out about 3 jugs.

Another way to quickly kill a single or mutiple jugs is the use of the "predator missile" which can be purchased for $2,500 under the air strike survival ammo. For this you have to make sure you have killed other non jug enemies and you also have enough distance between you and the jug. With a proper aim, you can kill 3 jugs with one strike. the predator missile also comes in handy in saving bullets as a means of destroying the helicopter(s).

Hope the above helps.

I i may add the following:

1. If you are in lagos, you may get "swift" as a means of playing online. You will see strategies use by your co player.

2. also, for those who are chasing the trophy which states that you should buy all the guns in the equipment ammo, make sure you also buy the gun you started with. Also, for each gun purchased, you have to buy all its accessories (i.e. the scopes (i.e. $750, $1,000 and $1,250) and grips ($1,500 each). Note that once you have bought the gun, you do no need to buy it again even if you are killed.

Have fun playing.
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by tayo03us1: 4:38pm On May 15, 2012
some pointers i am sharing as regards lasting long under survival sp ops in mw3:

1. for the first 4 waves, try not to buy anything (inclusive of guns). Instead of buying guns, just pick up those dropped by the soldiers you have killed. before the start of the subsequent wave, simply run around the area where the dead soldiers are, you will see your ammo increase.

2. depending on the difficulty of the wave you are playing know that every 5th wave (i.e. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 etc) involves an helicopter and jug. so once you are about to reach this level, make sure you have a flash banger, you have a fully loaded light machine gun (or 2), you are in areas where you are protected from the helicopter whilst you kill the enemies (inclusive of the jus) and you do a lot of running around, don't be static (make sure you look at the map as many times as possible to guide where you run to).

3. understand the map and quickly identify any location that has only 2 entry points. this can be used to your advantage. one entry point can have a "sentry gun launcher" and about 5 claymores securing that end. this leaves you free to face the other entry pointwith little or no fear of being attacked at the back. Remember this will only work for other waves except the 5, 10, 15 and other multiples of 5 waves.

4. make sure at all points in time you have a "self revive (cost about $4,000). this helps alot during solo and co op players as it means that at every point in time, one person or both are able to revive themselves and avoid being killed.

5. as you go up in the waves especially about wave 15 plus, claymore should be ur friend. by as many as possible (usually in multiples of 5's) and plant them around the areas you usually run through. this has 2 advantages. it kills the enemies (and reduces them as they approach you), it also kills enemies who are chasing you.

6. as you progress in waves note that the mode of attack differs. you have have more jugs, enemies with bombs planted (human and dogs), enemies carrying chemicals which slow you down, the enemies also plant claymores, etc.

overall, know the map well, Quickly buy 1 or 2 light machine guns, and run around alot whilst looking atthe maps.

hopes this helps.

Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by Bawss1(m): 10:02am On May 16, 2012
Nice entry there tayo03us1

Up till now the highest wave I have reached is 27 and that’s in the Resistance map under the easy section. I stopped playing maps under this section for a while though maybe I will revisit Resistance just to beat your record. Under the “insane” difficulty I’m at wave 25 in the Lockdown map (love this map very much too). Good advise there about claymores, I just recently started using them, they are an easy way to take out hostiles but the problem I have is placing them where they are most effective. Put them out in the open and they will be spotted and blown, the best bet is to place them at choke points or corners but there is hardly enough time to plant as many as I want. Oh well. . .
I have been making use of Air Strike lately. With just $2500 and proper timing you can reduce the number of hostile troops and juggernauts drastically in one strike. I find it more convenient than Predator missiles which require you to hide properly before you can use them. Anyways I’ll keep pressing on, want to reach wave 30 on Lockdown before I give this map a rest.
Re: Special Ops - MW3: The Nairaland Leaderboards by tayo03us1: 2:03pm On May 16, 2012
Wow, wave 25 on lockdown? that's pretty impressive.

you are right about the lack of time in being able to buy and plant claymores. i usually find it pretty annoying.

where possible, try and download the mw3 elite premium to give you access to the additional sp ops, maps etc. its the bomb. you will however need to have a credit card with a usa billing addy or get some one there to assist you in buying a "virtual psn card".

wish you the best of luck at trying to get to wave 30 on lock down. won't be easy, but hey go for it. one of these days we should play coops together, u neva know how far we can go on an easy wave like resistance, lol.
