Key Verse : “And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared” (Numbers 16:42).

Dissatisfaction in the heart often breeds rebellion in the open. It first leads to grumbling and complaining about one’s circumstances, against other men and eventually against God. Rebellion against God has eternal grave consequences. And the judgment of our fellowmen who sinned ought to deter us from continuing in sin.
This was not so with the children of Israel at this time. In spite of divine judgment that came upon the trio of Korah, Dathan and Abiram with all their cohorts for rebellion against God’s anointed, Israel went ahead the following day in their prejudice against Moses to blame him for the death of the rebels. God viewed what was done to Moses as, in a sense, done to Him. How every man needs to be careful to desist from slander and prejudice against God’s truly anointed ministers. They that do such despise not men but God. The consequences of such are usually disastrous.
The Christian must beware of touching the Lord’s anointed. He runs a grave risk who treats the servants of God with disdain or derision. Believers are not even expected to speak evil of civil dignitaries, let alone ministers of the gospel who labour in word and doctrine.
Rebellion is not condoned by the Lord. Christians cannot be part of a restive, placard-carrying mob destroying public properties and maiming others just to express a desire for change. We do not get involved in conspiracy, prejudice and gang-ups to remove a person from office. The Christian belongs to a peculiar race and ought to be salt and light to his generation.
