Am just back from an electronics repairer workshop. The place was jampacked with condemned VCD, CD, DVD, etc, player. So I concluded that this products are rip offs. So I want to ask: How Old is Your Working DVD Player? What brand is it?

7yrs. A generic brand. Working but hard to navigate without the remote which is busted. So will get a new one

Funny enough I just bought one, LG, I buy within every year or there about except for the samsung which lasted over two years; though I've discovered that how long your DVD will last depends mainly on how often and how well you use it and not necessarily the product so long as it's not china.

LG home theatre. Frm 2006 and still working except 4 d lens dat is weak.

Up until this November when I bought my LG blue-ray player, my last one was an Samsung DVD player and I had for it 3+years. Although my DVD was in perfect working condition, but I just wanted the HD blue-ray and Netcast option that connects me to apps like Netflix, YouTube etc.

Hmm, were there DVD's twenty-five years ago. Think not except I'm missing something. Mine is still working 3 years out of the crate but the tv was hit by lightning last summer and is toast so the DVD goes as well.

Electronics are no longer made to last unlike hi-fi equipment from the 70s or 80s. Electronics these days are now so cheap and disposable - see how the cost of LCD HDTVs has crashed in the last 2-3 years thanks to China.

The cost of major repairs to a blu-ray or DVD player presently outweighs the purchase cost of a new one.

A Samsung system. I think 5years and it has never disappointed. It has just 2 buttons on the system PLAY/STOP and EJECT/STOP. Very beautiful

lafayette bought it in alaba way back 2004. is being overused - some days will play 4 more than 8hrs & has never given any problem. only d remote got damaged & could not get any that could be used for d dvd. funny nough was made in china 4 us market.
