"The Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) disciplinary committee has reduced the sanctions handed out to the national team captain Samuel Eto’o and his vice-captain Enoh Eyong after a meeting held on Friday at the Hotel Mont-Fede in Yaounde.

After a fierce debate which lasted for a number of hours, the committee announced it had reviewed the case of the team’s strike action in November which led to the cancellation of a friendly match against Algeria, and that the earlier punishment on the principal instigators had been decreased.Eto’o’s 15-match ban was converted to an eight-month suspension from the team, which will cause him to miss a total of four official games.

Vice-captain Enoh Eyong, initially slapped with a two-match ban, will now stay out of the outfit for two months, which practically means his initial two-game suspension does not change because he will likely miss the two fixtures of the Lions set to take place within that period.

The $2000 (€1,500) fine imposed on Tottenham left-back Benoit Assou Ekotto for his repetitive absence from the national team has been squashed.

Marseille’s Nicolas Nkoulou is now Cameroon’s new captain.

The FA also named former captain and all-time most capped player of the Indomitable Lions Rigobert Song as team manager of the home-based senior national team known as 'Equipe A'."
