The Reality Nairaland's "only Staff" Must Face ! by tundewoods(m): 6:19am On Oct 08, 2007
This thread i must confess was inspired by certain occurences that i noticed on Seun Osewa's Nairaland.com.If you may be wondering why i haveĀ  decided to start this thread on the webmaster's section instead of the Nairaland dedicated thread.I'm simply starting the thread here so that other web designers/developers(I dislike the word Webmasters) with similar ambitions or discussion forums such as Nairaland will learn from the points i will raise in this thread.

Lets humbly start by facing reality that Seun Osewa,the only so called claimed staff of nairaland.com is loosing gripp of his most priced possession,which is this forum.If i may let me point this out.

I read the most hilarous footer notice appended to featured topic's on Nairaland Home page which was obviously posted by Seun Osewa.It goes as thus "Caution: Nairaland does not have any "staff" apart from Oluwaseun Osewa".It was posted right below the Buy and Sell Cars on Nairaland Thread.

Honestly i laughed my heart out and even shared the joke with my Wife.I cam understand that seun may be trying to protect his beloved forum and probably users from Con and Scam artists who may have attempted using Nairaland as a launch pad to perpetrate certain scams to fellow nairaland users.Fine he has a point with that but certainly the words of that notice only succeeded to show that nairaland.com is yet to understand the online business and politics according to the gospel of Web 2.0.

If you may have noticed Nairaland seems to have started recieving allot of attacks and posts from junk and useless spam posters regarding Adult video,Viagra sales, Watch live sex video's.

Now this is what you get when only one person claims to be the admin of such as enormous website such as this one.I know Seun still sees his nairaland.com as a joke but the fact remains that with the size and porpularity of his website,I am certain that his Monthly Google Adsense cheque's will really make sense when he goes to cash it at the bank.

So what stops his from thinking out of the box and get staff for this forum or at best moderators that will monitor threads and topics started to ensure that they make sense and conform with basic norms.How on earth can a post regarding "Adult Videos" be posted on Web master's section for close to a week and yet the forum admin is still yet to act.Also similar is the issue of double topic posting and "Thread topic High jacking"(changing original thread topic to suit ones Selfish business purposes)

In the past i respected seun's ability to manage the forum when it initially started but his nack for banning users for both justified offences and personal vendetta was a little much in my own opinion.The present situation on his forum should make him see the reality staring in his face.Nairaland.com is not a toy anymore.Speaking from a business oriented point of view the bottom footer which stated that "Nairaland.com is owned by Seun Osewa" should take a new phrase and have its ownership by either by your registered company that will be dedicated to the adeqaute managment and adminstration of Nairaland.Until then i rest my case,

AGREED!

If seun and other webmasters webdevelopers will agree, i believe we have alot of talents on Nairaland.

Instead of sticking to this pre-built forum solution smf, we can come together, reason well and turn Nairaland into something much more cool and to a multibillion dollar project. We have enough trafic and post on the site to get us going already!

Am sure seun might not like the term "We".

@Teee

Your last line in your post shows that you too know and understand Seun's mindset.It is obvious that he prefers to see things from the perspective and "I and I alone" approach rather than a "We" Collaborative approach to things.

Bill Gates of Microsoft and Steve Jobs of Apple are were they are today because of the "Collaborative" approach to business.

Even in my own small but growing company grin We certainly delegate jobs and have a collaborative approach to our web projects.

Don't you think I have my strong reasons for doing it alone? Surely you don't think I'm dumb?

Seun my dear Seun,Please give me one good reason to justify your claim for doing it alone.And i wonder why you love to jump to conclusions,by the way who called you were dumb in the first place ?
