Popular Nollywood Actor and Delta State Commissioner for Culture, Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD was this morning involved in a ghastly auto crash that left his car totally condemned.

'He’s hale and hearty. I’ve spoken to him’, a close friend to Delta State born politician revealed to CHANNEL801. We learnt however that his car was not spared as it somersaulted several times before it came to a halt.


Mofe-Damijo, 50, was born in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. He read Theatre Arts at the University of Benin and Law at the University of Lagos.


RMD took part in a television soap opera, Ripples in the late 80's. He however became a household name for playing the role of Segun Kadiri in the popular soap, Checkmate.


Before then, he had a stint with Concord Newspapers and Metro Magazine as a reporter. Out of Bounds was the first film for which he received a writer/producer credit. In 2005 at the maiden edition of the African Movie Academy Awards, Mofe-Damijo won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.


RMD has the record of being the first actor to be paid a million naira for a movie role.


He was married to the late May Ellen Ezekiel, a foremost Nigerian journalist popularly known as MEE. After MEE's death, Mofe-Damijo married Jumobi Adegbesan, a former staff of AIT and he has four children.
