There's this Yoruba series that was aired on LTV8 during early 90s here in Lagos. I can't remember the name or storyline of the series,except that the main villain was named "Mr Deinde" while the protagonist was named "Thomson". Mr Deinde was a very evil character that went about poisoning people and in the last episode i watched he was on the verge of poisoning Thompson. 
Kids back then used to sing "Mr Deinde,Mr Deinde,
Eti lé kpa yan ju,eti lé kpa yan ju.
O gbodo kpa Thompson o,Deinde!"

I can't remember if this song was the soundtrack of the series or a composition of a creative fan-i was pretty young then.
I also can't remember the name of series or how it ended,i'm not very sure but i think it was airing around the time "Yemi my lover" was released,but it was way before "Agbara Nla" and"Mama mi L'ekó". debuted. I know this cos i watched Agbara Nla on colour tv,but the aforementioned two were on Father's ancient black and white TV.
So,can anyone remember the name of the series?

"Iwa Eda" you say? What does it mean?? I wonder how the series ended. When I stopped watching it Deinde was planning to kill Thompson. I remember Thomson had a fiancee who was pregnant for him. I think he succeeded in poisoning Thompson but whether he died or not is what I can't remember. Deinde was the vilest,most hated villain on TV back then.

Mr. Deinde committed suicide at the end by stabbing himself with a kitchen knife. And YES, Thomson did die out of poisoning by his evilness, Mr. Deinde.

Alabi Yellow currently resides at Ikorodu Lagos. i do see him occasionally, sitting by the entrance of Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat. His appearance is very pitiable- he epitomizes poverty. Most of the other cast members of that series lives at Ikorodu. Some years back, i saw some of them, Thompson inclusive shooting a movie somewhere at Ikorodu. I remember seeing the likes of spark, The lady that played the part of Thompson Fiance- she is looking very much older now( but her beauty still shone like a million stars) and many other crew of that series.

Of course Thompson's fiancee will be a lot older. This was a series that aired about 18 or 19 years back.

Yeah,I can barely recollect how she looked like but I do remember that the lady was very pretty. That's why Deinde set his sights on her . Thompson was your all round good guy, but the evil Deinde, poison specialist extraordinaire murderd him. No wonder he was so reviled by the viewers.

I don't think the series was ever finished. Maybe that's why it was made into a movie

Thanks so much for this. I've racked my brains for so long. I was pretty young then and didn't understand Yoruba too well so I could not really follow the storyline. Now I know how it ended, almost two and a half decades later

The titles are : Gbongbo Ese, and Iwa Ede .. featured Mr Dehinde, Thompson and Lola!! Ever since i dont think i have watched any other Yoruba movies which make sense like they did then!! Where are all this Actors and Actress is the question i ask my self always. So painful we aren’t hearing about them anymore. They are one of the legends in Yoruba movie industry
