Names don't win AFCON these days but team does ! Since 2000, AFCON has been won by teams whose bulk of their players play their trade on African soil. I hope our coach will continue their opportunty given to our home based players and prepare them for the next AFCON. I pray this eagle flies again !

God did really answered your prayers at the crash site of your beloved patriots a day before your final match.

I remember watching this zambia players 5 years ago in youth cup vs nigeria we won them 2 1 and was better 5 years later look at many of that players winning anc despite failing euro tryouts. Morals of the story never let foreign clubs determine your national team selection.

I think those who claimed to be the "BIG SHOT" in the game of football in Africa better sit down and learn from this event.

EGYPT
NIGERIA
SENEGAL
GHANA
IVORY COAST (CIV)
CAMEROON
MOROCCO
SOUTH AFRICA

you all need to learn what true sportsmanship is all about.

Congrat!!!  Zambia rules africa. I'm inpressed with their performance, it shows that, african football is getting to world standard.
No underdog in african football again. All the big names watch out because is no longer business as usual.

It was a good final with some good play.

But I think it is important to highlight that the best thing about this very good final match was the refereeing.

Absolute CLASS!

We tend to overlook when the man in the middle does a fabulous job but shout when they make a mistake, talkless of mess up.

Best refereeing I have seen in Africa!

Referee: Badara Diatta (Senegal)

When the Zambian coach was asked aw he thinks he can beat CIV he said and i qoute " it is not necessary to score before you can win the cup". . . . . that was his tactics and the CIV doesnt knw that the guy is ready to take the match to extra time. . . . no body gave them the chance, Pele,Sepp Blatters, Mitchel Platini are culpable , the commentator said and i qoute him that "this is a battle of david and Golliat but low and behold the came out with thier copper bullets and they fire at all cylinders including the almighty star studded eleph-ANTS . . . . .  VIOLA VIVA ZAMBIA . smiley smiley smiley smiley CIV pls come back nxt year  grin grin grin grin grin grin

Really really Happy for Zambia yesterday. Was supprting them to win.
I knew they were going to beat Ghana but wasn't sure about Ivory Coast.

All of you blaming Gervinho should shut the hell up. His goal brought his team to the final after all and he also won a penalty for them in the 2nd-half only for Mr Drogba to foolishly blaze it over.

Zambia and Ivory Coast are two great teams. Zambia is the AFRICAN team, without any players playing in the so-called EPL that Nigerians are all lalla gaga about. Ivory Coast, even with their foreign brigade, are every patriotic and disciplined, and as a result you see they reached the final.

Look at Zambia's OYIBO coach. He made progress with Angola, then 4 years with this team, and now lifts the cup. Did you guys see how he carried the injured Zambia captain half the field to join the praying teammates. CLASSY and HUMBLE.

I was very proud.

Looks like the last 5 winners of the African Nations cup (Tunisia/Egypt/Egypt/Egypt/Zambia) from 2004 to 2012 have been composed of mainly home/African based players.

So to all the hype and dazzle of Osaze scores 3 goals, and Rabiu Ibrahim signs this and that should sharraap.
