Chairman of Editi Local Government Council of Niger State, Alhaji Isah Kantigi, said in an effort to restore the glory of teaching profession, his council has introduced dressing allowance for primary school teachers working in his local government.

The chairman, in a statement at the weekend in Minna, said N1.2 million has been earmarked by his council for the payment of the dressing allowance, saying all the teachers in the 102 primary schools in the area would benefit from the gesture.

He therefore appealed to staff of the council to cooperate with the committees handling the on-going staff verification by physically presenting themselves for the exercise as nobody would verified by proxy.

Kantigi also warned staff of the council against laxity, saying his administration would not hastate to sanction any staff found wanting.

If we really want to improve this country and end Boko Haram we must wage a war against corruption in the north. Else corrupt leaders there will continue to destabilize the country for their own benefit. They don't mind if everyone is thrown into slavery as long as they have much more money than the rest of us.

Good example at least half a bread better than non. Give back some to the poor from your loots is a welcome development. I hope the other remaining states in nigeria as a whole will follow the suit, not only for primary but for all teachers at all level deserve the best.
