Ten tips to help you start and grow your own business

According to the federal bureau of statistics, over 40 million youths are unemployed. With the economic situation in the country, chances that many of them will find jobs are very slim. In her new book- GET OUT OF UNEMPLOYMENT, Ronke Kosoko, an employment solution specialist addresses how to escape unemployment by growing your personal business. Tayo Alufon writes on some of the tips:
Prepare for opportunity: You don’t need anyone to help you achieve your dreams. Most of the great names you know today were really helped by anyone. They only created products and services that met with opportunities.
Get a unique idea: Take time to think and look into areas of needs that have not been explored and develop a unique idea to sell to people.
Start small: Studythe history of organisations, people, ministries that are great today, all have stories of little beginning.
Be patient: No matter what you do, your patience will be tested; your business will not grow overnight.
Be faithful: There are people who are financially blessed, they want to establish businesses and hand it over to people who are faithful but they find it hard to get. You can make yourself one.
Be quality driven: Most people don’t want to buy Nigeria made goods. People prefer T.M Lewin and other notable brands. When people buy fake products from you at the price for original they will never come back. First impression matters
Take some risks: One reason why the rich will keep getting richer and the poor getting poorer is because while the rich will keep taking risks and investing money, the poor are afraid of losing money, it is risky not to take risk.
Avoid selfishness: Many people like to pursue their gains at the expense of others. This can be very detrimental for any entrepreneur. While it is good to be independent, it is bad to be selfish.
Take advantage of synergy: Do not be a one man squad if there is privilege of synergy. Someone may have the idea, another have the money while another will have the management skill. Synergy is important for effective business.
Don’t be lazy: Excuses are open evidences of laziness. A lazy man’s excuses are stronger than ten men put together. You can’t box him into a corner because before you ask him a question he already has seven answers prepared to justify his laziness.
