Just as Sokoto, Lagos, Calabar, and Kano have traditional rulers, Owerri also has. The Traditional ruler of Owerri is Eze Dr. Emmanuel Emenyonu Njemanze (aka the Ozuruigbo) of Owerri. I doubt there's a direct hotline or email through which you can reach him. The context of the word "Owerri" has three uses. 1 is Owerri proper traditionally called "Owerri Nchise" which has Eze Njemanze as the traditional ruler. 2 in reference to the entire Oroatta clan of Igbos which includes communities in Owerri West, Owerri North, Owerri Municipal, Ngor-Okpala, Aboh-Mbaise, Ohaji/Egbema and Ahiazu Mbaise LGAs. 3 in reference to Owerri senatorial zone. |

Like Abagworo said, Eze Njemanze is the traditional head of "Owerri Nchise" and not Owerri genrally, just like there's an Oba of Lagos Island and not Lagos generally. |
