The average bmi (body mass index) for Nigerian men is 23. 23 is normal and healthy, but that is slim compared to America. The average bmi for men in America is 28. The average bmi for Nigerian women is 24, and that is also normal and healthy, but slimmer than America. The average bmi for American women is 28. So, it seems that adults are getting enough food, but what about children? In Nigeria there are alot of underweight children, although not as much as India, the number is too high. So from what you Nigerians see, is food in short supply? Data is from www.gapminder.org

Surprisingly, Body Mass Index, and blood pressure do not relate to each other. Nigeria and Japan have higher blood pressures than the United States. Nigeria is a slim country with high blood pressure. Some say that people of black-african ancestry store more salt because they live in a hot climate. That is wrong, because Indians, Vietnamese, and Thai people live in a hotter climate than Nigeria, and still have lower blood pressure.

What's really surprising and unexpected is that higher cholesterol = better health In the graphs you'll see that women with higher cholesterols have longer lives and lower blood pressure. You will also see that men with higher cholesterol have longer lives. Most doctors advise patients to lower their cholesterol, but the doctors are killing their patients.

Jean Macqou: What's really surprising and unexpected is that higher cholesterol = better health Most of these data are often misleading. I can also see u have a misconception about cholesterol! Cholesterol is actually essential 2 d body, what doctors advise their patients against is Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol aka the bad cholesterol as against High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol aka the good cholesterol. This is achieved through dieting. |
