It‘s foolishness accompanied with selfishness that led to such decisions. Some of the people in government got their certificates through part-time programmes but, they want to block the way for others.

OP what's your source? A blanket ban on all part-time programmes in tertiary institutions wld be absurd. Are u sure you're not confusing this with the over abused long distance programmes?

This is what characterises Nigeria's policy making - insensitivity. Just to ensure that education becomes unattainable by all means.
Re: Your View On Suspension Of University Part - Time Programmes by AFOLABISUNKANMI(m): 9:07am On Jul 03, 2012
It is a welcome idea, this will grant more admission chances for the utme students. Most universities in this country prefer to enroll and admit other programmes applicant, pre degree, foundatn course, part time and lot more

Re: Your View On Suspension Of University Part - Time Programmes by sheyguy: 9:08am On Jul 03, 2012
The truth is most public schools don't have enough lecturers for full time programmes, the only reason for part time on the side of most school authority is greed, most of the student of these part time programme get extorted twice the amount they extort regular students for half their lecture. Instead of fulltime students recieving lectures for shorter hours on weekdays and part time students take over on weekends, regular students should recieve lectures and practicals on weekdays and weekends.

Why make a big deal about part-time programmes in Nigeria. In climes like the United States, lots of people work and school-That's essentially part-time.
All the NUC and perhaps the ministry of education should do is set the rules, the standards, the controls over every institution that runs part time programmes. Ensuring that the teeming youths in Nigeria gets adequate quality education is key. Yes, there may be specialised courses like medicine that need full residence in the college, however many other courses can be very well studied fulltime, part time, online etc.
For examples, there are qualified accountants today, who have no first degrees but got chartered by rigorous personal studies.
The Govt should do every thing possible to ensure that every nigerian youth who desires tetiary education can acquire same.

i pray they resolve the issue on time.Because if they eventually scrap it,then i consider the government of nigeria the government of the politicians for the politicians and their associates.,i.e no plan for the masses.

Its true i saw it on AIT news last week, They guy is a fool for saying that they will suspend part-time. So he wants to tell me those workers doing part-time program would leave there work and start attending program's in the morning.

That guy drink shepe before him go on air... thats why noting works in Nigeria , Bad policies.

Re: Your View On Suspension Of University Part - Time Programmes by DCTrendy(m): 10:35am On Jul 03, 2012
Very bad move.

Some of the part-time students re already in their final year. They already spent yrs, and thousands of naira. U wanna dash their hope?

Some adult wouldn't get promoted @ work cos they carry HND(banks 4 example) don't wanna mention name, they re in PT so they can have better life.

Some students didn't av sponsor @ d  they shld be in sch so had to work very hard to sponsor themselve now that they can help themsleve.

Some students were unable to gain admission due to d small spaces in their programs so they just av to get into PT cos time is no longer in their side. U wanna kill them?

I can go on and on.

Why is d govt like this? Who is this NUC boss?

Why can't u set the standards: in admission processes, lectures, exams etc instead of this.

As I type this, I av 3 pple close to me here that ll be affected by this! Alot of money have been spent.

Oh my goodness! What is wrong with this govt?

Can their be a protest or something? Whether e-protest or physical!

God: we need ur help in Nigeria plz, Thanks.

I have always asked this question: why is it that policies that work in other climes don't work in nigeria? Are we cursed? Do govt think at all before acting? There is no country in this world that dont have part-time studies as part of the education system. What the govt should do is stop the proliferation of universities, close some private universities, and stop further granting of licenses to other private ones. Do this govt know that many part-time students are better than the full time students, do this useless and clueless NUC, that knows nothing aside strike, know that most part-time students are HND, ND, ACA, ACCA NCE etc holders? I sincerely weep for this forced marriage.
