But why can't this Mr Agbaoye, and his advisers think positively for once, instead of helping manage them out of their problems they are complicating it. Education in Nigeria is quite not getting reasonable attention and this man has risen to kill the little that it has from private and selfish individuals. |

NUC and their gra gra self. Even the so called accredited Unis. still produce unqualified graduates. They'd rather assist those private unis in gaining accreditation instead of compounding issues. We need more Unis (private/government) to admit the vast no. of jambites with fewer universities to accomodate them. |

NUC had now accredited two out of the seven universities in just two weeks after publicly destroying the credibility of the institutions. SHAME. I SMELL a foul play. Wait until they visit LEADS UNIVERSITY, You will hear how they will say the university lacks everything including toilets for students to poo |

if these private universities are banned from admitting new candidate, what would now be the fate of those who have them as hope of admission this year? |

These NUC dudes should not give Madonna University the go ahead to operate anymore because that school is not even fit for animals. If they return back Madonna's licence, then we'll all know that this country has no love and hope for it's youths. We are watching. 1 Like |

NUC restores JABU’s licence By Gbenga Omokhunu, Abuja 18/07/2012 00:21:00 The Nation Newspaper The licence of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, which was suspended by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on July 4, has been restored by the Commission. A statement issued by the Registrar, Wale Aderibigbe said: “This was made known through a letter from the NUC: NUC/ES/259/Vol.I/219, dated July 16, 2012, duly signed by the Commission Deputy Executive Secretary, A.S. Agbaoye, and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sola Fajana. “This Press Statement becomes imperative as JABU was among seven private universities, whose licences were suspended by the NUC. “With this news, the university management, through the help of the Board of Trustees and Governing Council, swung into consultation with the NUC. Coupled with these were several efforts made to align with the Commission’s directives. “The university management has resumed immediately the 2012/2013 admission process, which was stalled owing to the development. We also use this medium to notify our prospective candidates, who are yet to apply to do so as soon as possible. “Joseph Ayo Babalola University is poised to provide both moral and intellectual education to our young leaders of tomorrow who pass through its corridors. It is well positioned to coin out a household name for itself, not only in Nigeria, but Africa and the world at large.” In terms of infrastructure, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji is far better than many State-Universities. The University is a host to many international scholars. Moreover, the University is not a one-man business like some private Universities in the neighborhood. It is operated by the Christ Apostolic Church World-wide. Suspending JABU's license for test-running a low tuition part-time programme (designed for the masses of this country) is indeed a cheap blackmail against such a reputable and promising Institution. |

House nullifies suspension of varsity licences by NUC The House committee on Public Petitions has declared the suspension of the operational licence of Lead City University and others by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as null and void, ultra vires and of no effect. Presenting its recommendations, Chairman of the Committee, Representative Uzo Azubuike, mandated the NUC not to take further steps that will in any manner interrupt the normal academic programmes and activities of the accredited courses of Lead City University and the others. The report also mandated the commission to carry out a forensic audit on the affected universities and advice the government as required by Law. The National University Commission (NUC) had claimed that the seven suspended private institutions will continue operations, but have been banned from admitting new students. The deputy executive secretary of the commission, Mr Akinbode Agbaoye made the clarification in reaction to a petition filed by Lead City University at the hearing called by House of Representatives on Wednesday. "Mr Agbaoye however responded that the school’s law faculty remain unaccredited as he explained that the initial accreditation was erroneously approved." But, Leeds sent students to Law School last year. How can a Law Faculty be "Erroneously Approved"? They probably didn't follow through on the balance payments!! |

Get your facts right. Leeds city has never been allowed to send students to law school |
