Etisalat’s John Murray was the star of the day as he won the inaugural 1500m race on a day dedicated to fans, parents and kids at the 2012 Nigeria Telecommunication Games (NTG) last Saturday.

Football event Cup holders; MTN also reached their second consecutive finals against old foes Etisalat. Organisers of NTG, MediVision Limited had dedicated the week to fans and children of participants with lots of prizes staked for different events.

The fans, including some of the parents of the kids, had fun playing basketball, free-kick shooting contests and 5-a-side soccer matches.

For the kids, they competed in 50m races and penalty shoot-outs for the generous prizes provided by the organisers. 58 years old Murray, who is the Chief Information Officer of Etisalat, finished the 1,500m race introduced as a demonstration event this year ahead of another Etisalat runner, Agboola Khalid to win the gold medal.

In some of the events concluded last Saturday, Olubukola Famusinpe of LM Ericsson won the ladies singles Table Tennis gold, defeating MTN’s Dorothy Eyo in a very exciting encounter while Kemi Taiwo also of MTN won the bronze.

Joseph Adebayo of MTN dethroned last year’s champion Yusuf Abubakar in the final to win gold in the men’s Table Tennis singles with Babafemi Odunsi of Etisalat clinching the bronze.
