Good morning friends, hope you are feeling fine. I know we are saddened about the unexpected death of Ghanaian president but there is nothing we can do to avert death when it comes knocking. In times like this, God is our strength. Anyways, let’s go straight to the NEWS Headlines.

FIRST IN THE NEWS is the BIG STORY in AFRICA: Ghana Vice President John Dramani Mahama has been sworn in as the west African nation's new president on Tuesay, hours after the sudden death of president John Atta Mills. The country's chief justice swore in Mahama before an emergency session of parliament following Mills' death. Mills died as he was being treated for an unspecified illness at a hospital in the capital Accra.

AND NOW, THE MAIN NEWS HEADLINES: 1. Unity Bank Plc Monday said about 500 members of its staff will proceed on retirement, in line with a programme aimed at reinvigorating its workforce. The bank also said that about 389 members of staff in various departments were promoted while salary increments by way of notches were also given to another 1,855.

2. The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 11 persons suspected to be members of a secret cult, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Mr. Michael Adah, disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday in Lafia. He said the suspected cultists were arrested on Sunday at Tudun Kauri, a surburb of Lafia, following reports of incessant criminal activities in the area.

3. Two National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members died, yesterday, while four others are in critical condition at a hospital in Gwer Local Government Area of Benue State, following an accident involving a 14-seater bus, which crashed into a farmland on Makurdi-Aliade Road.

4. The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMA) yesterday, threatened to shut its operations within 48-hours if government failed to pay the subsidy claims to marketers. Mr Dapo Abiodun, the President of the association, gave the ultimatum in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

5. The embattled Convener of Save Nigerian Group (SNG) and General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has petitioned the management of the African Independent Tele-vision (AIT) for alleged misrepresentation of his views and ‘blatant lies’ against his personality on his invitation by the State Security Service (SSS) in the firm’s news bulletin aired on July 23, 2012.

6. ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: According to reports, famous Nigerian comedian Otaghware Otas Onodjayeke a.k.a "I GO SAVE" has just bought a house (bungalow) in Germany, . And the reason he got a home in Germany is because he has a regular gig in that country, so he spends a lot of time there.

7. UGANDA NEWS: Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel guide, recently picked Uganda as the best tourist destination in the world for 2012. Uganda beat nine other countries to the prize that included Myanmar, Ukraine, Jordan, Denmark, Bhutan, Cuba, New Caledonia, Taiwan and Switzerland. Uganda Tourism Board has announced that Uganda’s tourism revenue has doubled in the last five years from $440m to $800m last year.

8. The man convicted of murdering Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and young nephew was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday, with the judge in the case deriding him as a man with "the heart of an arctic night."

9. "America's Got Talent" judge Sharon Osbourne on Tuesday said on Twitter that she will be leaving the popular television talent show at the end of this coming season, a decision that took NBC executives by surprise.

10. Hollywood Actor Sherman Hemsley, who starred in the hit 1970s US sitcom The Jeffersons, has died at the age of 74. Police in El Paso, Texas, said late on Tuesday that Hemsley had been found dead at his home, although the cause of death was unknown.
