Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.

Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.

His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.

The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993

It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.

Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.

He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.

“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’

Talk is cheap.
ThiefNuibu's action is at variance with his talk, hence the shege that is continuing instead of the change APC promised 9 years ago.

Bobloco:
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Daniel Bwala, has suggested that the current administration of President Bola Tinubu may end up like his predecessor.

He noted that this was exactly how Nigerians were told to be patient for eight years while the Buhari administration was busy doing very little or nothing at all.

Bwala said that Tinubu has already spent 31.8 percent of his first term in office and has only succeeded in raising the sufferings of Nigerians during this period.

“When people talk about being patient and waiting, you have to look at the time frame the public officer is expected to execute the work,” Bwala, who was the spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 elections, said on Channels TV on Monday.

“The President has just been voted into a term of four years. He is eight months into the term which constitutes 31.8 percent of the total time that he has.

“He has less than 70 percent time in government, when is that going to happen? When President Buhari took over in 2015 it was the same language and we patiently followed and he finished the first term and finished the second term.

“When there is a fundamental problem with policy, time is irrelevant, 30 years it will not work. Most of the economists I’ve listened to have faulted the President’s budget with which he was supposed to deliver the agenda flat-out…

“We want to see deliverables. Nigerians are tired of English, Mathematics, Economics, Science, and Technology. We want to see practical things,” he said.

Insecurity: Recruit 50 million youths into army, Tinubu urges FG

All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, urged the Federal Government to recruit at least 50 million youths into the Nigerian Army to boost Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, banditry and all forms of internal and external security threats confronting the nation.

Tinubu spoke at the 12th colloquium to celebrate his 69th birthday in Kano State.

He said, “We are under-policed and we are competing with armed robbers and bandits to recruit from the youths who are unemployed —33 per cent unemployed?”

“Recruit 50 million youths into the army,” he stated, adding that “what they will eat —cassava, corn, yam, will grow here.”

The APC chieftain, while reacting to recent statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics that over 23 million Nigerians are jobless, also urged the government to create jobs for youths in the agricultural value chains.

He said, “Don’t talk about illiteracy, anybody who can hold a gun, who can handle a gun, who can cock and shoot is technically competent to repair a tractor in the farm.”

The former Lagos State governor, however, saluted “very creative” youths in the country, saying, “They are angry, they are showing their anger but we will appeal to them”.

The colloquium held in Kano, was themed, ‘Our Common Bond, Our Common Wealth: The Imperative Of National Cohesion For Growth And Prosperity’.

The event was virtually attended by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who chaired the occasion and restated the essence of a One Nigeria.

The colloquium was also virtually attended by the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo; House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; amongst others, whose itineraries were disrupted by poor weather from the Abuja airport to the Kano airport.

Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.

Those arrested suspects include Lawal Mazaje, 40, from Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada area of Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela area of Sokoto State and Auwal Abubakar, 25, from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State....

RESIDENT TINUBU SECURES LANDMARK DEAL WITH UNITED ARAB EMIRATES ACROSS SECTORS; VISA BAN ON NIGERIAN TRAVELERS IS LIFTED IMMEDIATELY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday in Abu Dhabi, have finalized a historic agreement, which has resulted in the immediate cessation of the visa ban placed on Nigerian travelers.

Furthermore, by this historic agreement, both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines are to immediately resume flight schedules into and out of Nigeria, without any further delay.

As negotiated between the two Heads of State, this immediate restoration of flight activity, through these two airlines and between the two countries, does not involve any immediate payment by the Nigerian government.

In recognition of President Tinubu's economic development diplomacy drive and proposals today presented by President Tinubu to his counterpart, an agreed framework has been established, which will involve several billions of U.S. dollars worth of new investments into the Nigerian economy across multiple sectors, including defense, agriculture and others, by the investment arms of the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

Additionally, President Tinubu is pleased to have successfully negotiated a joint, new foreign exchange liquidity programme between the two Governments, which will be announced in detail in the coming weeks.

In conclusion, the President wishes to commend the UAE President, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his unalloyed friendship and his determined effort to join hands with him to fully normalize and reset to excellence, the standard of relations between the two important countries.

Should Soyinka come out and tell us the new nest of killers

If PDP is a nest of killers, what’s APC?

Soyinka is the ultimate artist painstakingly painting the oil of words on canvas, arranging them in shockingly amazing forms to educate, inform and entertain. Much more globally respected than any Nigerian leader, living or dead, when Soyinka speaks, the world listens. When he said, in 2003, that there was a nest of killers within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, no other story was big enough to contest newspaper headlines with the outburst of the 1986 Nobel Prize winner. Today, Soyinka is still pained by the murder of his friend and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige, in cold blood, two days to the Christmas of 2001 – when the Olusegun Obasanjo-led PDP reigned of impunity.

It’s a lazy and an unworthy a society that perpetually looks up to octogenarians to lead the battle against social reformation. Though his faculties are still very sharp, an observation I made during an interview with him some time ago, age has slowed down God’s greatest literary gift to Nigeria.

I’m sure the Professor of Comparative Literature will not condone the undiluted show of shame displayed last week by the All Progressives Congress in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, during a rally. I’m sure Kongi will, at the appropriate time, paint the APC in bloody, horror colours, deserving of a highly hypocritical party which the ruling party has disappointingly turned out to be. When the daggers and stones of words cascade down from the Lion on Olumo Rock soon, the world should expect headlines such as: “Insanity! APC beatifies MC Oluomo Agbero – Soyinka,” “APC, a congress of criminals, says Soyinka,” “Soyinka: APC and the glorification of banditry,” “Lagos and the making of Mafia state,” “APC throws democracy to the dogs – Soyinka,” “APC and the death of decency – Soyinka,” etc.

Nothing asserts the acknowledgment of the criminality within the Lagos APC than the admittance of the spokesperson for the riotous party, Joe Igbokwe, who affirmed that the outlaws who openly killed and maimed people when Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was delivering a speech at the Ikeja event, were members of the party. Ghastly, Igbokwe puts the blame on the state-supported ‘agberos’ for coming to settle their internal squabbles at the APC rally. Rather than apologise to Nigerians for the tragic display of violence by their rampaging party members, Igbokwe and the APC refused to see nothing wrong in the brazen rape of democracy by the APC hoodlums.

SINators.. have bought there own. It's is his own time.

This is his own 'emi lo kan'

The sinators followed ThiefNuibu’s example in the supplementary budget he sent as soon as he resumed his job.

chisomkachy:
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

1st Question: Did you say killing hundreds?
ANSWER: Yes! Hundred were killed. Last year alone, there were 754 deaths from 604 mass shootings in the US. In first quarter of 2024 which ended March 31, there were 208 deaths resulting from 125 mass shootings.

2nd Question: Did you say occurs regularly?
ANSWER: Yes it occurs regularly, if it was 125 mass shooting for the first 3 months of the year, by now a month later, it will be over 200 mass shootings, approximately 11 mass shootings per week. So it's even over regular.

Finally you called the facts I presented "lame attempt at exaggeration".

But according to media report 4 persons were killed in the Port-harcourt tanker explosion while you exaggerated it by saying hundreds were killed.

So the joke is on you!

Most importantly, the immigration policies have been consistent. Right from when I researched Japan's immigration policies in 2017, they have been consistent and even further liberalised. Inconsistency and changing the goalpost are things I dislike in life.

Any idea how Fashola is related to Alhaji Lie Mohammed

Johnnyessence:
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, said the solution to the problem of power sector could be achieved in six months if the Distribution Companies, DISCOs, were ready to yield some percentages of their concessions to the state government.

Fashola made this statement at the commissioning of the 1.2 kilometer Glover Road and 8.5 megawatts, Peninsula Integrated Power Project, PIPP, Lekki, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

The governor, while commissioning the fifth IPP, said:
“Let the EKO DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government. In about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State.

“So, let no one say that he has no money to deliver
power for the entire country. This is the limit to which the law allows us to do, but we have done this to make a statement that power can be generated.
‘’So, when they come with lies that power is impossible, you can tell them that we have power here; we make it possible.”

He opined that the project showed that the money to improve the Nigerian economy is here, “since we don’t need the World Bank to come and do this for us.”

Fashola noted that he felt fulfilled with the conduct of youths that delivered the project, despite the difficulties in getting to the finishing point.

Explaining the importance of the project, the governor said the project, courtesy of the state government, in partnership with PIPP and Heritage Bank, would help to provide power supply to power the Lagos State public water corporations in Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Victoria Island and Ikoyi, as well as over 25km of public lighting in the Lekki axis.
