Romance / Health Implications Of Divorce On Women And Children by collinsnaira(m): 8:39pm On Jul 25, 2015
According to a report published in the Journal of marriage and Family by Hetherington (2002) from 1992 to 2000, a group of nearly 9500 men and women from 51 to 61 years of age were given follow-up interviews every two years. The results seem to bear out that the females in the test-group whether divorced, widowed or re-married were more susceptible to cardiovascular disease than their male counterparts. Studies reveals further that after 60 years of age, 33% of those women divorced, 30% of those widowed and 315 of those re-married were suffering from some serious cardiovascular problems. As compared to 22% of women who remained married to the same partner. These same physical risks were not readily apparent for divorced males - only 19% of divorced or widowed males demonstrated any cardiopathic risks.

Consider:

1. Life expectancies for divorced men and women are significantly lower than for married people (who have the longest life expectancies).
2. A recent study found those who were unhappy but stay married were more likely to be happy five years later than those who divorced.......

Romance / Causes Of Divorce by collinsnaira(m): 8:30pm On Jul 25, 2015
An annual study by management consultants Grant Thornton, in the work of Fagan and Patrick (2005) estimates the main proximal causes of divorce based on surveys of matrimonial lawyers. The main causes in 2004 were:
• Adultery; Extramarital sex; Infidelity - 27%
• Domestic violence - 17%
• Midlife crisis - 13%
• Addictions, e.g. alcoholism and gambling - 6%
• Workaholism - 6%
• The problem of finance
• Sexual problem:
• Immaturity
• Intrusion of in-laws
According to this survey, husbands engaged in extramarital affairs in 75% of cases; wives in 25%. In cases of family strain, wives' families were the primary source of strain in 78%, compared to 22% of husbands' families. Emotional and physical abuse were more evenly split, with wives affected in 60% and husbands in 40% of cases. In 70% of workaholism-related divorces it was husbands who were the cause, and in 30%, wives. The 2004 survey found that 93% of divorce cases were petitioned by wives, very few of which were contested. 53% of divorces were of marriages that had lasted 10 to 15 years, with 40% ending after 5 to 10 years. The first 5 years are relatively divorce-free, and if a marriage survives more than 20 years it is unlikely to end in divorce. The age at which a person gets married is also believed to influence the likelihood of divorce; delaying marriage may provide more opportunity or experience in choosing a compatible partner..............

Health / Health Risk Associated With Obesity by collinsnaira(m): 8:23pm On Jul 25, 2015
Health risks are parameters that predict the risk of developing particular disease and in many cases, contribute to the cause of disease (Webb, 2002)

In furtherance, stated that the astronomical increase in Obesity. In recent times has resulted in an increased number of premature deaths in the society. Mortality rate is on the increase and life expectancy reduced. According to Shape up America (2000), obesity is associated with 5% of the top leading causes of death and disability. In the US, heart disease, some form of cancer, type II diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure.

Education / Issues And Challenges Of Higher Education In Nigeria by collinsnaira(m): 1:59pm On Jul 23, 2015
The problems of access to tertiary education in Nigeria are multifarious in nature. The opening of more tertiary institutions in the country cannot wholly be said to be a panacea to the problem of access to tertiary education. There are certain issues that need to be closely looked at if meaningful access to this Ivory Tower of learning is to be achieved. These issues include:

The Issue of Quota System

The quote system was introduced in an attempt to provide equal opportunity for candidates to be admitted into the university. But regrettably, this system has been greatly abused. Quota system of admission is admitted into the university in one academic year from each state. The quota system comprises three important elements namely, academic merit which is determined by University Matriculation Examination (UME) score and is allotted 45 percent. The second element is Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS) with 20 percent and catchment areas with 35 percent (NUC, 1999). The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is therefore, guided by these provisions in the admission process each year. The defective aspect of the quota system is that the quota has to be filled and this often leads to the lowering of cut-off points in many university departments in order to have enough candidates to fill the quota. The quota system portrays that a candidate from the southern state with UME score of 298 out of 400 from an educationally advantage state may not get admission but his/her counterpart from educationally less advantage state with a lower score may be admitted. Thus, the quota system sort of creates avenues for penalizing those from states described as educationally advantaged. This absurdity should be abolished and admission should be based purely on merit.

The Issue of Funding

University education in Nigeria is facing a heavy expansion and this will.................................

Health / Types Of Breastfeeding by collinsnaira(m): 1:51pm On Jul 23, 2015
There are several types of breastfeeding, which includes exclusive breastfeeding, expressing breast milk, mixed feeding, tandem breastfeeding, extended breastfeeding, shared feeding and weaning. According to him, the above breastfeeding types were explicated thus:

1. Exclusive Breastfeeding: Olusegun (2006) noted that this refers to a situation where an infant receives no other food or drink besides breast milk for the first six months of life. Articulating the importance of this breastfeeding type, he noted that both national and international guidelines have recommended that all infants be breastfed exclusively for the first six months of life, thereafter breastfeeding may continue with the addition of appropriate foods for two years or more. Exclusive breastfeeding was noted by Olusegun to have the potency to diametrically reduce infant mortality rate in developing countries.

2. Expressing Breast Milk: Olusegun (2006) also explained that expressing breast milk refers to the artificial removal and storing of breast milk practiced by some nursing mothers. With manual massage or the use of a breast pump, Olusegun noted that a woman can express her breast milk and keep it in the freezer storage bags, a supplementary nursing system or a bottle ready for use.........................

Education / Meaning Of Credit Vetting by collinsnaira(m): 12:33pm On Jul 23, 2015
Credit vetting is the process of assessing customers’ applications for credit. These should be a systematic approach for deciding individual’s credit limit that treats all customers fairly. Variety of assessment method can be used, that seek to obtain or analysis information about the financial strength and credit worthiness of the customers.

When a bank lend money or supplier give credit to a customer, credit analysis is used to judge the risk involved and the likelihood that the borrowers or customers will pay what is owed on schedule.
