4llerbuntu: NB:
At the time this became an alternative path for them was about 2-3yrs ago. between that time and now, They have not sold as much as HTC have to put it in perspective. it probably didn’t sound a compelling argument then, but lets face it, the writing was on the wall. they refused to acknowledge it.

Its not restricted to the company though, even the fanboys could not see beyond their noses. as at 6 months ago, they were still engaging in flame wars on NL arguing that a Bold 3 was better than a SGS 2. funny how Techno has magically made all those arguments disappear. grin grin grin

I wonder when they will realise they should make their email service a PAID service accessible outside BB devices for companies and individuals. Quite a lot of people will pay for BB quality email support for now.
in the next 1 yr, it probably will not be relevant again.

and now BBM is accessible elsewhere, i fully expect them to shut down device production in 2 yrs. They should sha allow us build a BBM App for Ubuntu Touch! grin grin

MAKE DEM DO QUICK RELEASE AM, E BEEN GET SOME SMALLIES I DEY TARGET, NA ONLY THE CURVE 2 DEM MAMA BUY DEM DEM GET, AND THEY TOO MUMU TO INSTALL WHATSAPP!! tongue tongue

BTW thats my next big prediction. bookmark it. In the next 2 years alternatives like Ubuntu Touch, sailfish (especially Ubuntu Touch) will cannibalize Android and totally kill stuff like BB's

especially because the corporate world will rather prefer to take the Ubuntu Touch Source and dev up a hardened closed version for their mobile devices

GBAM!!!
Well said Bro . . .

olu_kenzo :
That's my hobby! I am an old currency collector. I have in my stash a total of N162.50K in exotic notes which I carry around with me.

I have coins too, but I don't fancy carrying them around due to their weight. Thus I prefer being a paper currency collector rather than a numismatist.
since u r a collector . . i would advice u keep those notes in a safe place, probably at home or bank deposit, cos u could easily lose the wallet wink
cheers

Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by lynxnoon(m): 9:42pm On Mar 28
blackweaver:

bros lynx,i wish i had good news for you, i really do, but from my research, it is not possible -simply because the silly chinko company refused to release the source code and i don't think they support it any longer. There was a version of ubuntu that there were modules that supported but it was a 2.6 kernel, i think it was ubuntu 9.04 or something.
Your best bet is to run windows as a vm client inside your linux environment and share the internet connection with your host. At least that's what i do.
I periodically still check online to see if a better solution has been found but so far nothing. If you do find one, pl share with the house

bigtt76: Been following with rapt attention. I must commend Lulosas but at the same time admonish him and other for making the 'cheat' stuff sometin like its a right to have. No that is wrong. I just saw the tweet ...telling the Glo guys you actually use it for Galaxy Phone ...like seriously? Are you trying to expose what they already know and get them sacked? You think they don't have boy and girl friends they share such with to woo them? In as much as its working on other phones doesn't make it your right. Abroad its called tethering and most providers charge you extra for such service or they block it out rightly. Come to think of it ....if Glo can prevent you putting more than one email account on some package, do you think it would be difficult for them to block BIS use on none BB fones? very simple to do and configure. All the need to do is programme their SIM card to read your phone's PIN and send to the system before you can be enabled.

Another instance is you think they are foolish, you subscribe to BIS 3G no traffic is going in or out of your email server profile on BB and BBM yet your traffic keeps getting consumed with high downloads through non-BB browsers? Haba.

To all those poking fun ...I say don't worry it shall be rectified. What happened was during that rain early monday morning, Glo's VPN connection to Blackberry Server and Internet Backbone were affected by the storm resulting in lack of 3G signals or 2G in some places. If truly they blocked the APN blackberry.net ....you will see the 3G sign on your device but it won't browse. But right now, we are not seeing it which means the 3G transmitters is down. it comes off and on.

It would be very difficult for the network to change the BB APN without recourse to Blackberry Engineers input. All mobile Networks connect to the central BB Server in the UK using their GPRS (If you check your Host Register on BB you will see it populated 620 GPRS bla bla ....) as the VPN mode. They can only block you tethering by preventing more than one MAC address per connection on their server. Changing the APN involves a lot of routing locally. Airtel succeeded because they first of all route all BB traffic through their local data network to their BB VPN server. so you first connect to their Data network before going to the BB network.

Anyway, lets keep our fingers crossed till weekend. Its being resolved in phase and most importantly let us desist from telling the Glo people openly what we are doing else they would nip it out. Though they are getting the money which is important, credibility of the BB service in Nigeria can be compromised using this cheap way of providing BB service to end users thereby resulting in RIM disconnecting them all.

One love guys. Please don't try to question my source or expertise on all this ....ok? Pls.
Hmmmm .. .. .. This makes more sense compared to what I have been hearing all day
Whatever it is .. Hope network issue will be resolved quickly

kay2000: Just got this..."'m in shock. Just got a call from her best friend and my close friend, Denrele Edun. He told me Goldie died a few minutes ago in his arms at Reddington Hospital in Victoria Island. Goldie just came back from the US today he said, and was so full of life, then something went tragically wrong. Will get all the details from him in a bit, he had to switch off his phone. I'm shaking so bad. She and I had a conversation a few days ago while she was in the US. Oh dear Lord. Is this how people die? May her soul rest in peace..amen.
