Can Someone Please Tell Me?

I've always wondered why in wedding it's "SHE WEDS HE" and not "HE WEDS SHE"
despite the fact that it's the men that do propose(maybe; should propose)

Abeg,can anyone tell me?i need to know.

Very simple: to wed means to join.
It is the woman that is leaving her relations and her birth-right of her biological family to join the man.
When the two shall come together they shall become one. Her surname and other thing must change.
In order words,the woman is the one joinning (wedding) the man not otherwise.
