Jay-z Issues Statement On Nigeria Visit
« on: October 13, 2006, 10:22 AM »

ay-Z is in the middle of a massive world tour taking him to places affected by water shortages and contamination.  He is filming a documentary for MTV titled "Diary of Jay-Z: Water For Life".  And he came to nigeria for that reason ONLY, quite frankly, our water sucks.  Grin

whats your view ?

i appreciate jay-z tryin to help us, but why everytime they talk about africa, its about things we don't have. they should focus more on what we do have instead of what we don't have. and nigeria is very beautiful in culture if someone has the gut to show people that instead of hungry people.

Jay-z implied in 1 of his trax that african gurls r dead-broke n naked n we went shaking our asses when he came. It cost almost a thousand dollars 2 go watch the show live in a country where 70% of its population lives well below the poverty line n whoz blabbing he came to 'help' us? Help? U honestly believe he gives a fcuk about africa? Or knowing what's positive about us? Think again.

These Oyibo people think say all Africans are all illiterate and still living in the bush!Or else how can u explain the fact that he really wants us to believe that he came to offer help! How much was the ticket to his show!!!!Honestly I will rather use that money for sth else than buy a ticket to watch Jay Z.If he wants to help there are many ways he could have done that rather than trying to disguise a tour as a work of charity.Me I don even tire for all these our AA brothers sef Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

If I had a truckload of money I would find more noble, better, worthier( Angry abeg my vocab don finish) things to do with it than to go to a Jay z show.I don't even feel his raps!If it were Eminem,Fiddy,Game the temptation might be there.2pac would have been a definite yes!Fcuk JayZ,and if his biatch gets angry,Fcuk her too!(tho I admire her talents! )But you can not diss Naija where I am and expect to walk free! Of course the water sucks-afterall you all sterilize your drinking water(i hope)
Jay-Z is entitled to his opinion as guaranteed by the articles on human rights
by the UN.There are more pressing issues-HIV/AIDS, ILLITERACY,CORRUPTION,
FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION, INFANT MORTALITY,ETC which are more important
than some ignorant ghetto wanksta.Serves us right Smiley

i think it has nothing to do with exploitation. people have a choice whether to support j-z or not. i even think naija knows whats going on. they just want to see jay-z because he's famous. not because he wants to "give us water". who made him in charge?

yes we are easily exploited, tell me any artiste that can boast of $200 a show in the US, even MJ, Prince or Frank Sintra show won't cost that for standing. Seeing is believing check out www.ticketmaster.com and see for your self. That will get you a nice seat at the old Laker's game. I sorry for Nigeria.
