fellas i phink b4 we start picking our picks lets judge the producers on the ground of how renowned their productions were recognised by the international community
1st: Cobhams - produced the asa's album that is still a phenomeon to the whole world at large especially france
2nd: Don Jazzy - producer of the major flow of mo'hits tracks making D'banj the best artist for MTV base awards and the Ikechuckwu's "wine am well" flow
3rd: Engee/ OJB - producer of psquare's hit tracks and award winning albums, OJB was also amongst the producers of Tuface's "African queen" and psquare's "bizzy body"
4th: i fink i'll share both btw I.D cabasa (Producer of 9ice's hit track(s) and K-solo (definitely the local best)- the have the local content that blows our naija market
Nail on the head. . . I feel you on this one. Cobhams is by far the best we've seen yet. . .His musicography is exceptional and on another level.

I'm a music producer(you'll hear bout me soon) and judging from that view, cohbams is the best! even if Asa's album is the only work he has done, those jamz r accepted WORLDWIDE, production and everything, I was really thrilled at the MTV MAMA awards when i saw white dudes playing a piece produced by our own, The others are also cool sha

I'm confused. The best producer in Naija is either Don Jazzy or Timothy Ogundele ( T.O.D). phaps I shld pick the second guy.He is very versatile. His work on Nnena's Falling roses blew me da mess away! Or was it the stuff he did for mode9's album intro. The shit was mad tight!!! It even got kudos on international review from a foreign critic .Don Jazzy is damn good but I haven't seen him do anything else asides the stereotype music in vogue now. Cobhams is very, very good: AT COPYING OTHER PEOPLE'S BEATS Don't hang me yet folks. I personally believe that what makes a producer the best are 3 things; Originality, versatility and off-da hook-beats. He's gotta have these complete or @#!

jesse jagz should be no where near that list, He hasnt done enough, You skipped OJB,Mr Daz,Sossick, laylow and other brilliant vet producers only to fix in jesse jagz who we only got to meet last week, This poll is no a free and fair one if it remains this way.I would say youre working for jesse jagz or are jesse jagz.

Imagine Jesse jagz oo for where?? make im siddon for Gutter Best producer now??? abi best prolific producer?? Don Jazzy does a lot of sampling and beat recycling, e.g Ogbono Felli Felli is a Missy Elliot's beat, Tongolo heard a very very similiar tune with a soundtrack in Barber shop 2, the guy just gives us Danceable beat, he aight ID Cabasa: Good, His beats all sound alike K -Solo; Good but not there yet, Only thing working for his is prolification (Most ppl have seem to have this notion that if you work with a lot of artistes then you are the best) Cobhams is tight as an ant's shithole: In this Country, You'll never find a better 'Yankee' kinda producer than him OJB: I don't know why this guy is being slept on here?? Geez!!! this Guy is the Best, Best and Best Producer of all time; Which producer could do a better work on; African Queeen For Instance Madam: (Azadus) Eko Ile that Lagos City Song (Storm All Stars) oh, folks you guys forgot OJB all of a sudden?? Is it coz his singing sucks?

Cobhams without doubt is the best producer ever from Naija. Anything he touches turn to gold and he produces all kinds of music; Rock, Hip hop, Dance hall, just name it.
Don jazzy is good but he is more of a hip hop producer, he is not as versatile as Cobhams. And I won't even place him behind Cobhams because there are other better producers ahead of him. Your preference depends on the kind of music you like and your level of musicianship.

@deb Thanks man. Cudn't have said it better. @ eccentricStill waiting for those beats. Meanwhile, I personally believe that what makes a producer the best are 3 things; Originality, versatility and off-da hook-beats. He's gotta have these complete or @#!
True, true. Cobhy is definitely one of the most original producers in Nigeria. See, he is a multi-instrumentalist and uses musical instruments in quite a number of his beats, so this gives him a lotta flexibility. Dont think so? well, still waiting for those copied beats. Versatility. . . like my frnd deb said, Cobhy is the most verstile producer in Nigeria! Dude does hip hop, R&B, pop, rock, soul, funk, juju. . . name it! Need i mention his off-the-hook beats?
