And Sagna sit on the bench for Francois Clerc.
We also have to consider that Maicon is an older member of the Brazilian team.
The difference in quality is marginal either way so its a no brainer if he benches Alves in the National team given his experience

when Cincinho was in form, he benched Maicon in the National team so what are you talking about?

Maicon is a classic RFB. he's better than Alves at that position a zillion times.
to me, Alves is more of a RWF because he is useless in defense. even his crosses are 50% completed
Maicon combines defense with attack very effectively. and his crosses are pin-pointed on its target.
Miacon is more like a right footed Patrice Evra.

As at 2008 I felt Abidal was better not only because he plays ahead of Evra.
Evra got a breakthrough into the national team around 2004 when he was with Monaco but the coaches realised he was too poor and Abidal was better than him. and he was dropped He had like7caps at the age of 27.forsomeone who got capped like 5years earlier.5 years 7 caps
Recently Evra has picked up but Abidal has dipped in form No longer the Abidal of Lyon. Right now Evra is better than Abidal
