Bfore u can get a birth certi frm the NPC u need to submit ur affidavit,one passport of the person on the affidavit,then ur own 2 passport photograph and ur photocopy of ur identity(international passport or national id card),then u go with ur N2200naira.u will be told to do the attestation letter in the office for N100 naira.ur certificate will be ready for 2weeks.

how do I get a birth certificate and where? I do need one for my visa application and its a big confusion, where to get hold of the document!!! what is this mess between attestation of birth and birth certificate? i dont get it, for real, it should be sooooo easy to just get a 2nd birth certificate, as obviously, i am born, and grown up now for 25yrs thx for reply

@bbwollex, i got it yesterday(Wednesday) as scheduled oh, infact wen i got there, the man said it was even ready tue evening.Trust our naija peeps once they see money, at least they kept to their words.So i am good to go now for my stuff.
@Ubolt, u get birth attestation once u r above 18yrs(wateva that means) and not birth certificate.

pls whats the essence of npc birth certificate or attestation in embassy for one who has gotten a birth certificate from the local govt council of one's birth?pls guide me on this.

I am looking to get my Nigerian Birth Certificate from the NPC (currently residing in the UK with my husband) to enable my marriage to be recognised by the Swiss embassy here and entered into the Swiss family register. I would like to know:

What information (apart from my name, DOB, place of birth, parents' names and their DOBs) would I need to have? Do I need to provide my parents' current addresses, what their occupation was at the time of my birth, where they were born and their LGAs etc?

Any pointers from those who have actually undergone the process would be much appreciated.

@plum70, a friend cannot swear to the affidavit. It is only either of your parent, or if not alive, a relative who witnessed your birth.

My first application was rejected base on "birth certificate not certified by government authority" said by them..... Which I thought they were referring to National Population Commission (NPC) and I went to NPC office at Lagos and did attestation and I went to VFS Office for submission again,when i got there to submit, the person attending to me refused to collect my application said to me that I need to take the Attestation letter to Ministry of Foreign Affair in Abuja for Certified.... please help me what can I do now, please way out guys
