we have stars that retain their natural accents and are known worldwide like penelope cruz,salma hayek, rihanna, sean paul etc.

Well,if u still want to learn then you should travel down there.If you cannot, try to see them movies,listen to them songs and watch them shows that will help u a little

of what use is American accent to someone  who does not live in the US. Nigerians will resent America accent the way Americans will resent Nigerian accent. Besides, American accent in America does not necessarily put food on the table, because Chinese , Russians, and Japanese are every where doing their thing with their accents.

this is a unique thread. Americans don't have one accent just as Nigerians don't have one accent. people from south, east, north or west have different accents used to identify with them, and the same goes for other countries.
if you are in naija, you might as well do it naija style, that is make sure all your words end in "r"
