If You can rightly tell me what I said is wrong tell me? constructive Criticism is what I learned from this thread. I can outrightly tell you that you're a baby a big one. Being young does not mean you must be ignorant and this is why we have wrong Leaders in Nigeria. Incase you don't know being old in doesn't mean you will be smart. Remember Ignorant people grow old too.
I have been in Nairaland just one year and boy you don't know what I have learnt. I have been able to acquire new skills, attend workshop, read Journals and communicated with Lecturers, Doctors on Nairaland with more than two decades experience. So when I am talking, I am not talking in unsubstantiated claims but facts.
Some of you think I hate medicine?grin. Infact I respect them. I am worried.
You think I am happy when I see Doctors strike for unpaid salaries and dilapidated structures?
When I know we have less than hundred thousand registered Doctors in Nigeria with a population of over 150 million people and over half of those people registered are out of Nigeria, retired or not practising.
Where we have people roaming mad in the street and we have less than a thousand registered Psychiatrist to handle the cases and I shouldn't be worried?
Grow up Bro you are better than these. I can bet myballs you are not med school and even if you are probably 200 level. Your anger shows it. So much enthusiasm you have which I like but mind how you do then learn to read with an open mind.

In conclusion,....Be humble....Sit down....

Although I am not in the best place to tell you what to do. I will be sincere with you sir I am currently 20. Yes I am Young soon approaching 21. I am currently doing side hustle and computer work for people to get money to invest more in my Business. I am waiting to get into vet school which is 6 years course. I know I will spend extra two three years making it 28 years hopefully I will be done. I won't do residency. Maybe masters but I will go into vet business.
Medicine on the other hand is different except you want to be a General practitioner. Even if its Obstetrics and Gynaecology or Paediatrics you will spend close to 5years. I am just estimating 32 you will be done with med then residency makes it 37 years. There are other courses related to it like Dentistry or even Nursing and maybe Radiography will help you make the relevant income to travel abroad go for extra training and maybe work for sometime and return. If the UK is in your mind Dentistry, Radiography and Nursing is the best bet.
Medicine is a lifetime thing. Doctors are always needed but Age and experience matters. I am not here to deter you or be an obstacle to you so don't misquote me.
There's life after med school that I know of and it is way tougher than being in med school.
Dentists, Nurses and Radiographers are highly sorted in the UK. If it is Nigeria you want to remain Nursing and Radiography is best from communications I have made. If you study medicine here and you want a field like radiology, anesthesiology, cardiology, neurology and oncology and cancer therapy which is highly sorted, we know the politics involved.
Take this from me like your kid brother giving you Advice. He might speak funnily but still makes little sense.
Incase some of you want to question, insult me in mentions, I did not cook up this things I wrote, My Family doctor was formerly working in National Hospital Abuja as a Family Medicine consultant and he is currently working with UNICEF. So read and re-read

You talk very naive and like an amateur.
Like you rightly said, you are very young. You have no experience nor in any position to actually reply the young man that needed words of encouragement.
Let's be guided and avoid ITK.
And lastly put some respect on dentistry.

Some people are just natural haters.
Dentistry is an arm of medicine, just like gynecology.how can you compare a paramedic with a dentist?
The pay is the same along with doctors, and abroad, dentists probably earn more.the beauty of dentistry is that it's less stressful than medicine when you start working.

Thank you

Most of the negative comments u here about BDS is not out of hate for the course, it's just ignorance (u can't blame anyone for that)...the name DENTISTRY itself is a misnomer.....

In a country that has only 9 schools offering BDS, and each with a quota of as low as 15 (mostly) to 30 students being admitted each year? Of which only few of those admitted end up graduating?? you are a hot cake bro....I don't want to start enumerating the prospects, as I know u can find a lot of them even here on nairaland.....

NOTE: Getting admission isn't the hardest part, but going through the rigorous 6 to 7 years in school is the most CHALLENGING and EXCITING part of it all.....
Congratulations on your admission by the way....

Thanks

Well, Dentistry is not a paramedical course. - always correct that notion when people tell you that.

Two, there is no way you should expect positive criticism about your course from everybody. I'm certain that same way some people have been giving you negative comments, some would have applauded you too. Stop letting negative comments win the best part of you.

Three, I agree that you're just a newly dental student and might be having doubts about the course. Find senior colleagues in your school that are doing great to talk with, make research about dentistry from reputable websites and be open to all shades of what dentistry will throw to you.

Four, be happy with what you have, many will 'kill' to get that slot. There is competition everywhere so be prepared for it.

Thanks

Hello everyone, most esp to all dental students and those already in the field.
I'm a newly admitted dental student.
I love the course considering it doesn't deal with the teeth alone and there are specialties that i had read which i find interesting.
My problem now is, a lot of people keep discouraging me each time they hear its dentistry. Some say that other para medics are better than dentist, some say it is difficult to get a job, some say the pay is very poor unless in a govt hospital etc...a lot of negative comments, i don't know if some are saying it out of hate lol. Though I'm not moved because i know what i want.
Please i need more enlightenment on the course dental surgery and its future prospect in Nigeria. Thanks.
Contributions from all medical personnel is welcomed.

Hello everyone... This is for mbbs students of UniAbuja. Want to ask few questions; is mbbs fully accredited, what is the current duration of the course, what is the required merit jamb and pjamb score, school fee,
Thanks.

Bro. My Preference is UNIMAID I have been applying there for all my jamb and my state is Bauchi which is catchment there.... I don't know, I don't know. Please advice me in the best way
Godfatherism and indigen palaver is to the brim in unimaid. Unless you can make 300+ then you can get mbbs on merit.
Is God's favour one needs.

yes,I applied for MBBS.
I am currently in about 4 unimaid group on Facebook but all they do there is to post fake admission news and other inconsequential write ups(am sorry for being too frank, its just the truth).
when I asked simple questions about unimaid there, no one answer me(I guess other aspirants already know all about the school).
I am from Kwara state,so I can hardly find any aspirant who chose unimaid also(guys drew back due to the increasing rate of insurgency)
Even if admission comes out,I don't have any legit information on what is best to do.
kindly help me bro.

You are right about their annoying post which are sometimes constructed in an annoying way. But unimaid updates ain't really a fake group just that the aspirants there take delight in making a jest about the release of admission list. So my advice is join the group but learn to overlook. ALWAYS VISIT THEIR WEB SITE that's where you can get a genuine information (unimaid online. Com)
Am not surprised that they didn't answer. But there is unimaid aspirant page on naira land where your questions can be answered, there are information about the school right here on this platform u just need to type the key words to browse.

Don't know of any too from kwara but don't think is that necessary
how far with ur jamb score hope is good since u r not an indigene
visit unimaid online Web site for genuine news.

Please stop giving out fake info and also trying to make unimaid medicine look like some cheap course to get. And about those friends of yours I think u should get more info about how they got the admission whether on merit or not.. . Cos unimaid do a lot of shitty things when it comes to medicine course or better still they are indigens. cos unimaid of bfor boko haram u need 260 n above and even now.
