Awosika represents the FirstBank brand perfectly well. She is actually an epitome of grace and I have no issues with her.

Allowing herself to be used by Otudeko was a great misstep. You can't just remove a Bank MD via boardroom coup. Someone whose tenure is almost over already.

The management team achieved a lot by reducing the Bank's NPL to a single digit- A great feat no doubt. Awosika and co miscalculated seriously and fall my hands big time cry

My verdict: CBN/FBN should liquidate Otudeko's loan with his shares. And the balance should be taken from his Airtel shares.

You really got it so clear
Well said

They are both Teflon Dons that made sure no dirt could be found on them in an industry plagued my money laundering for corrupt politicians and military generals ,abuse of insider loans and other breaches of CBN regulations.

They have successfully navigated the minefields that could have brought them down by hook or crook.

Spot on

The hero here is Sola who refused to write off billions as bad/non performing loans. Madam and co, you were going to allow a few of you ‘steal’ from minority shareholders through the usual route of bad loans. Minority shareholders received peanuts as dividends year after due to the stealing going on at the very top. Glad that Emefiele and the MD stood their grounds. In a working society, you all should be in custody by now.

I can't believe people like her suffer things like this. She is a strong woman, she will pull through.

I believe the bank underestimated the CBN. They must have been surprised by their actions.
How can you underestimate the CBN that's a regulatory agency and has the power to remove the entire board?

That's sheer stupidity.

How much is Ibukun Awosike owing First Bank. .

Great plans without good corporate governance won't do much if insiders can borrow billions in loans without proper collateral..

If you read the initial statement by CBN they already allowed them to write-off N150 billion of bad loans.I think they were either looking to restructure and write-off more loans, before CBN stepped in after the reinstated MD refused to agree to the terms.

You probably had and I do not know how much you did but it never reflected on the dividends. So maybe the act by the cbn is the best. Though one is not sure of anything in this country thesedays.

The statement is full of guilt and at the same time trying to exonerate herself. Does she want to tell us she is not aware of the CBN procedure The person (Eranko Oduteko) that put her in that position end up been the cause of her removal. You will see all these criminals in churches and mosques giving motivations but look at what they are doing at the back. Always use your brain and don't follow people like a sheep.

Someone that Nigerians should be questioning why she is not in jail here we are they are still praising the criminal. That shows you that a typical nigerian is corrupt and only waiting for the opportunity to show him/herself.

The great interest was sacking a management team without due process

I expected better
When they were abusing the privileges and giving themselves insider credits to the point that nonperforming loans were at 26%of loan portfolio, were they following due process.
She was part of the problem. She was on the board long before she became chairman. And as such new the rot in the system. She isn't talking to morons. Some of us worked in banks too.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. The scale of Insider abuse was shocking. Imagine CBN telling them in 2017 to provision N150bn write of from their profit for 5 years to stabilize the bank. All while she was chairperson and prior to that she was a director on the board

Women don't like confronting truth
The statement by CBN justifying their actions is clear as day. String indeed. Like Cecelia ibru, deziani madueke, etc.

I don't really advice people to listen to motivational talks by people who became famous through another brand. The hardest thing to do is giving your self a name, creating your own brand. Only few people do and very few of those who do are worth listening to because people do shitty things to het power, money and fame.

What due process is this one talking about?
Was she not on sit when the MD was edged out on forced-retirement or are you a paid agent!
What goes around comes around and that is why you must stand by the truth at all times.
This is about the LAW and Process. Was it not the same Board that presented the Dr as MD to the CBN and they got approval,so what are they hidding up till this moment that they refused to tello tell the whole world what the MD did wrong in a forceful retirement? Her plans should be implemented for her now that she compromised her position with other powerful brokers!
Kudos to CBN intervention that right the Board's wronful decisions. The former Board definitely were hidding a lot of things from the investing Public and the Regulatory Authority!

Posterity will judge her harshly sir.

Talk is cheap, she has been weighed and found wanting. I still can't believe all those shenanigans including cheating that company happened under her leadership. It is the God those people serve that is dealing with her and the rest of them who knew that FBN cheated the small company but kept quiet.

All of them including her,the Mrs Folake Ani-Mumuni, Mr Adeduntan, Oba Otudeko et al will not have peace with God until they pay that man his money.

She likes giving motivational speeches like one big deal.

She always forget to tell her students that 90% of success in Nigeria is corrupt.

To be fair to her she might not be aware of the issue with the logo controversy. However, she can’t claim ignorance of the insider loans that have caused the bank problems.

Dangote is no longer in flour business, he sold it to Olam.
Only BUA is still in flour business.
The CBN governor actually begged the Honeywell Chairman but he turned down his plea not to sack the MD of FBN.

I don't think so sir. That news was all over and even trended on Twitter sir. If she did not hear, it is still the kind of incompetence she is trying to deny then undecided
She should have just apologized and take responsibility. The MD will not last long on the seat too because they will have enough Intel on him and watch out for season 2 of the FBN's Alibaba and the 40 thieves.
