130k is not bad to start with in Lagos depending on the area of d job, if d job is at island (VI) obviously he can't afford accommodation in that area so he should project ikorodu as an alternative means, meaning he has to be waking up as early as possible to beat traffic.
If your friend want to improve his career he can consider Lagos if only he can cut his coat according to his size, he will definitely survive.

insecurity is somehow curtail over here, I've lived in Zaria for close to 20yrs now, I know what I'm saying

1. Lagos is not heaven or America. But it's the best in Nigeria and exposes you to anything that is available anywhere in the world.

2. 130k is ok if (a) you are not paying rent or u don't mind stayin in slums or staying far from ur work place. A single room from Ojota upward is 120k to 180k (you will pay more than double that amount the first year. .
(b) food and transportation. You will spend 26-45k on transport every month. (c) traffic. Depending on where you are working, you are likely to leave home by 4 or 5am and get back by 10pm. Though BRT covers almost everywhere in Lagos now. Hence reduces the burden of traffic. But it's not a substitute for traffic.

If he stays in rural areas in Ikorodu, he will get a single room at 60k. Self-contained at 135k, 2 bedroom flat at 350k. These figures will double in d first year. D problem is your job will most like be outside Ikorodu. Hence falling into the trap of 4am to 10pm.

On the bright side, he has the opportunity of getting a better pay job in Lagos than the 130k that is bringing him over. Finally, if u want to live a gentle life, stay in ur location. But if u want to push your career and live in the fast lane, come.

If he us single, he could share the rent with a roommate. Some companies offer accommodation. Others offer lunch. But he will need a thick skin. Imagine coning home by 10pm after u left by 4am? The next day, u repeats it.

If you check my last thread, you will see where I said I had to drag salary with my boss, because alot of things has gone up... when others are selling things cheap in other state, legos would increase it...

Despite the fact that I'm earning very strong 6digit, my wife had to stay in abeokuta in a very clean 3bedroom flat with just two tenant for 250k, with a very spacious compound that can park 6 cars and the two flat has their own water tank.. (Though she works in Abeokuta)

I stay in my family house in Lagos for free and free food.... transport is only what I spend on...

If you want to rent that in Lagos, you will end up spending all your salary on it, with two years rent and very high agreement and commission...

Better tell him to stay in that his Zaria....
