There is no reality show without a projected winner though.
They can influence the viewers through camera manipulations and contents they put out.
They protect some people and expose others.

These people can read humans like a book .
So they go out of their way to merge certain characters, banking on the audience to react a certain way , with a little bit of a nudge and camera tactics .

Too bad Nigerians pick winners on stage .

Most times the projected winners don't actually win .
In Efe's time , it was Bisola .
In Miracle's time , it was Tobi .
In Mercy's time , it was Mike .
In Laycon's time , it was laycon .
In Whitemonkey's time , it's liquorose .
Are you saying icons were played?

Risk factor, yes, but people get lucky. It doesn't affect everyone same way.

Genetics may even be involved.

lucky YES...... But genetics, I am not sure about that. Did you read what I wrote? It overworks the kindney

You can argue that lifestyle may help in preserving the kidneys eg engaging in adequate exercise, drinking adequate clean water, proper diet, etc.

Moderation is always the key.

Before I'll start thinking of the kidneys I'll be looking at the livers first.
In most people the kidneys are barely affected when it comes to alcoholism. Though at the long run it might be affected, but not as common as the effect it gets on the liver.

Okay...that was some really, weird ish.

Omo, I don't know about lifestyle affecting, because person wey I know wey dey approach 70 and has never had kidney issues didn't do any of this aside the water at best. And I know three other proper drinkers that are 50+ and do none of this, yet, no kidney issues.

However, the three people I have known with kidney failure, two women and a man, only the man actually had a drinking problem. Salt can affect kidneys too, not just alcohol I guess.

I am just talking based on my personal experience, I don't know about others.

Excess salt causes fluid and water retention, which can lead to hypertension and can cause kidney damage aka CKD. So you are right.

There are so many things that can cause Acute Kidney Injury or Chronic Kidney Disease that are beyond what you just mentioned.

Yes alcohol, salt and a host of other substances can greatly affect how the kidney work.

What I want to point out is that lifestyle is a major contributory factor eg excessive alcoholism. Someone even reminded me of the liver issues. That one is even worse, cuz the liver will detoxify before it gets to the kidney.

In Miracle's time , it was Tobi .
In Mercy's time , it was Mike .
In Laycon's time , it was laycon .
In Whitemonkey's time , it's liquorose .

Going by the above reasoning, let me play Devil’s advocate.....

The show is run by a company with a primary objective to provide content to their subscribers, thereby growing subscribers base , earning more subscription revenue, attracting corporates to advertise thereby generating sponsorship and advertising income....all is geared towards increasing the bottom line of the company.

Why would it matter who wins the show? Why would they leave core issues like production quality, logistics , costing etc to focus on who they should project to win or not?

What's my point?

While biases and favouritism may creep into housemate selections or camera focus , it isnnot necessarily a decision or focus for the producers of the show. However, because human resource is required to man the different aspects of the show to bring it to a success, biases would creep in based on the individual types charged with certain aspects or responsibilities for the show.

For instance, the camera crew on duty may like certain housemates and focus on them during their shift, those in charge of selections may compromise to favour "known people".....those who decide the number of people to be evicted may alter based on their biases for the hm's up....

So when we say biggie....we should know we are talking about hundreds of people in different departments all injecting their own biases which dictates the outcome of the show....

I would wager that what leads to the kidney failure in Nollywood is uncontrolled hypertension first, and hard drug abuse following distantly.

A legit cause of kidney failure...through overworking of the kidneys.
Genetics plays a part in every facet of life, and is not as simple as you make it. But I honestly won’t do this- do merricine here. I am already bored out of my skull, lol.

You don’t get it. Alcoholism is not a common or direct cause of kidney disease.
Taking Ibuprofen for example, is more likely to directly hurt the kidneys than is ogogoro.
