Few things to Note in 2022

In few hours it will be another year. 2022 … is loading.
I believe the out going year 2021 had its ups and downs, there were some mistakes and likewise some areas where things were done right in terms of investment decisions.
Many met their saving and investment objectives while some could not, some miss opportunities while others make use of opportunities, in all we have learnt one lesson or the other.

As we look forward to a new year, here are some good investment practices that could help:

1. In all your investment moves make sure the safety of your capital takes priority.

2. Note that you can’t be everywhere in terms of investment rather go for what you understand, and you have ability to cope with the inherent risk.

3. One of the best moves in investment is to start with what you have. Don’t wait till you have all the millions. Do something with what you have currently and build on it.
For instance if you have plans to invest in bonds or real estate and currently you only have tens or hundreds of thousands why not start with mutual funds that can help you build your funds gradually and in no time you can invest in your desired investment window rather than waiting and your money losing value.

4. There will always be Ponzi schemes so watch out and tread carefully. When returns look too good to be true it’s most likely not true no matter who is involved.

5. Don’t tie your investment decisions only on rumors. Do your due diligence always. Note sometimes you may see yourself going alone on your decision to invest, don’t bother in as much as you are sure and know you are on the right track.

6. Always endeavor to have a balance portfolio that can help in your risk management. Risks are managed better when spread across different investment windows.

7. Don’t forget according to Warren Buffett
Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1

I wish you all happy, bullish, and high yielding 2022

I also want to learn how to invest my money. During the pandemic, I realized that I must find a very promising direction that does not depend on the external situation in the country. As an option, I'm thinking about creating my own website on the topic of installment loan Michigan. I want to help people and give them a loan on favorable terms. DURING the pandemic, I used this service very often and now it has inspired me to create my own website on this topic. I'm interested in your opinion on this topic. Thanks!

This dividend made me invest in VGIF, am I the only one that is yet to receive this dividend as at January?
My funds hasn't even increased by 1 kobo since January 1st.
I am not happy at all. Hoping to see a change soon, if l see a change l will quote this comment again so people can be well guided. It's not fair to expect something and not get it but l am keeping my fingers crossed till further notice.

emmasoft:

You will get a prorated dividend paid anytime you invest. There are two payment dates - July 1st and January 1st.
So if you invest say May 5th you will get dividend paid July 1st for the period - May 5th to June 30th. Even if you invest on June 29th in the morning you will be paid for the two days.
The same applied if you opt for dividend reinvestment. The prorated dividend is reinvested July or January.

@kooll apologies for the inconveniences. Please check your account. Dividends were reinvested yesterday with 1st January as value date.

What that means is that your new interest will be on your new capital as at 1st January even though the transaction date was yesterday.

For the dividend from 1st January till date it will be posted, be rest assured you've earned the dividends already. The posting will definitely be done.

Usually the first week of the new quarter is always busy. Balancing and Rebalancing of portfolios and other end of year/quarter things but those activities don't put a pulse to your daily interest earnings. All your earnings is still on.

You can also get in touch with the number on my signature.

Thank you for your patronage.

Thanks for the clarification.
My expectation based on what l read on this page before investing was that for the duration of the investment till every 1st of January and Ist of July, l will earn interest on a daily which has happened so far.
I also read here that a separate dividend apart from the interest earned within the period will be earned at the end of the half.
For example, if l invest, I will get interest, say 5000 till January 1st, then in January, I will get additional dividend say 3000, so total earnings will be 8000k.
So far, l have only earned interest, when will the dividend come in.
Please help clarify further.

Yes on the facts of the fund it's stated that investors may earn an additional yield equal to 35% of the net income of the fund.
This additional earnings is dependent on the performance of the fund and the additional earnings will be paid after the funds have been audited.
Please as earlier stated you can reach me through the phone number on my signature if you need further clarifications

Abeg people using ARM una experience any funny drop in earnings this year? I noticed my interest dropped sharply compared to value as at last month

Though I've reached out to them, but yet to get reply. This is my first year with them so just wanted to know if unusual.

Rate is not fixed so its possible that it has dropped a bit(but not something you should worry about).
If you've followed the outlook for 2022 by most investment firm, the projection is that rate may drop this H1

Many thanks for the feedback and reassurance. I was rather surprised by the drop, though I later discovered I actually miscalculated. ARM has also got back to me.

MMFs are daily valued.
As at today
IBTC MMF is 7.37%

ABACUS MMF is 8.41%

Banks don't do MMF directly. Their Asset management subsidiary for those having a HOLDco structure do. It's basically the job of fund managers like investment one.

Generally MMF interest is earned daily and paid quarterly.
However, each fund managers may have their modalities.

There is nothing like tenor in MMF, the period you have your money with the fund manager is determine by the investor.
It could be as short as 30 days or for life.

Happy New Month my people. May February be good to us all. Amen.

Please does anyone have information ond First bank's mutual fund rate and Stanbic IBTC rate?

Also, is there any legit investment apart from mutual funds right now as it is not advisable to put all eggs in one basket from my experience.

I wish to spread investments out. Nigerian investment sphere is now one that requires treading with serious wisdom.

Thanks for your advice. God bless.

If you really mean the embolden, begin to look in the direction of stocks investing in the Nigerian equity market with a long term view. Don't listen to the noise of lazy investors. Abacus money market fund as the name implies is a MMF.

Principal underlying asset is treasury bills and commercial papers hence there is little or no risk at all. You can only lose money if the country no longer exist.

The interest is daily valued. It's currently ranging from 6.96 to 8.41% and it's upward looking base on economic realities right now. Interest can't be fixed because of market forces on Tbills but be rest assured there will always be interest and your capital is guaranteed.

If you are conservative with low risk appetite then Abacus mmf is best for you.

You earn interest daily but it's paid every quarter on the first day of the next quarter ie Jan 1st, April 1st, July 1st, Oct. 1st. You can also give instruction for your interest to be reinvested (compounding) which will be done automatically on those days as mentioned earlier. The one for last quarter was done January 1st

Your capital and interest is guaranteed.

minimum holding period is 30days and initial deposit from 1,000.

Parties to the fund:

Fund manager - investment one
Trustees: United capital trustees ltd.
custodian: citibank
regulator: SEC

You can do everything online- register and monitor your account.

Depositing money is not restricted it can be any amount from 1,000 and at any interval without a specific pattern.
Whenever you invest in the fund, your interest is prorated to cover the period of your investment before the payment date.
That means if you register and invest say Feb 4th you will be paid interest for 4th to 31st of March for that period and continues till another payment date.

To open account click the link on my signature or get in touch with the phone number.
